"The oldest tool in my studio is a box of oil pastels I won at an art competition in primary school. It was one of those small activities that was part of a festival but that trivial accomplishment probably became one of the many factors that piqued my interest in art making very early on. While I seldom use oil pastels in my work nowadays, this set remains an important part of my childhood and inspires me to continue what I do." Happy birthday to Jodi Tan @jd_tn ! May your year be saturated with happy hues and tones. LNY this year feels a little more exciting. ✨ Thankful to have had the opportunity to design a special print for @lovebonito ‘s LNY collection, and I can’t wait to see family and friends wear the pieces 🌸 While it’s not my area of expertise, I’ve always been interested in fashion and textiles, so this was a really fun project to work on. I decided to put those random copic marker drawings that I have been making to good use - shapes and colours were extracted and re-composited to create the eventual print design. It was challenging for me to work digitally (no thanks to the colour wheel of death) but at the same time I was amazed by the endless possibilities of tiled patterns that could be created. I made a rather extensive print design where the points of repetition were blurred. Together with the magnifying of the print & the panelled designs by @lovebonito , each piece of clothing looks quite different even though it’s cut from the same fabric. The clothes designs were done entirely by the LB team so all credits go to them! Special mention to their attention to detail especially with the blue piping and lime green lining that go so well with the print. 💙💚 Please send me pics if you wear any of the pieces this festive season! And a Happy Lunar New Year to everyone 🍊🍊 📸 All photos above are sightings from friends and family (across Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia!) 💗

Super belated post… happy to have been part of @frida.window ’s first overseas appearance in Seoul @ypc.seoul late Dec 23 - Jan 24. Contributed a teeny tiny painting that emanated bright vibrations quietly through the 3rd storey window. 🖼️ Photos from @ypc.seoul

The past 3 years have been increasingly hectic and i haven’t focused on my practice as much as I would’ve wanted to (excuses aside). Was really thankful to be part of @fostgallery ’s two-part exhibition The Lie of The Land last September, showing 3 humble cross-stitch pieces that I’ve been working on, on and off and between work and rest. Grateful to @stephfong33 for thinking of me and for my works to be in good company✨ A very belated post - some shots of the exhibition (Part II: Imagined), credit @fostgallery
