We are teaming up with @patagoniapasadena for an evening 5K trail run or walk, followed by a panel discussion led by the diverse women+ in our running community. All proceeds benefit @altadenagirls , a 501(c)(3) charity supporting teenage girls who lost their homes and belongings in the Eaton Fire. Through shared movement, we are reminded of the community we stand for and the adversities we’ve overcome together. a hygge spring season (5 weeks!) in our home away from home. living in & returning to two special cities that captured my heart before, invigorating it again in more ways than I could count, and filling our cups with such meaningful memories for the two of us. Copenhagen & Paris, you were a dream, realized 💖

And, part 3: it really was the best kept secret. Reflections on my first @thespeedproject . Talk about jumping straight into the deep end, right (iykyk)? For 57 hrs & 30 mins, 12 of us went through our own deeply personal experience overcoming 410-ish new miles by foot from LA to Las Vegas. the all-nighter is psycho; it first shows you how to bend the rules and be fearless, then encourages, celebrates, and taunts you in the absence of sleep. For us, it was two all-nighters and some change (+ running & camping things along the way). Grateful for the opportunity to join @highlandparkrunners and bear witness to this crazy wild adventure. Sharing this intimate experience with an inspiring group of people eager to challenge each other and themselves will push you. Just two guidelines. No rules - be as inventive, extreme, creative as you want (w/o breaking the law). No spectators - it’s radical participation; involve yourself, bring others in, and share an experience. Do it for something beyond yourselves. Sure, speed is great but there’s so much more besides that. Everyone’s TSP experience is unique to their own and the shared struggles made it meaningful. There was glory in the suffering. It was gritty, unpredictable, felt like a dream, but also magical. For me, a flurry of emotions - too long for IG, but it tested my faith and choosing to do this in pursuit of God. When I look back on the conscious/unconscious moments, I think about the darkness that embraced me and what I wrestled with for two nights. Tackling fear head on and finding peace, where it would meet me, in the quietness of my footsteps trotting up across the winding pavement and dirt roads at 3am w/40-50 mph winds as you fight fatigue & weariness of the mind, body, and soul and think of your teammates who are enduring their own journeys. More is written elsewhere, in a shared journal with my team or somewhere online that I may someday share (or maybe not. really, who has to know? It’s a secret 🤫). @highlandparkrunners for @thespeedproject #secrets 🏴🤫🫂🏜️ Part 2: we’re in this together. the mind is stronger than the pain. this was the hardest part and this isn’t for the faint of heart. the second night watch follows us through the trails. the fatigue & delirium creeps up. I’m sick of eating random carbs, candy, and gels. we’re fighting to focus, be present, and not give in to the dark thoughts. the last sunrise comes and it’s a relief to be warmed and welcomed by a new day. we push on to Las Vegas and the feeling of getting to the sign together is such a thrill. we made it. The unknown became known, together. My mind ran free creatively with these shots, everything was a fleeting moment. It was imperfect and perfectly beautiful at the same time. thank you to @highlandparkrunners @claytonrosa @pingrivero for the opportunity of a lifetime. tackling this uniquely difficult challenge through uncharted roads with an inspiring group of people is something I don’t take for granted. runners: @claytonrosa @leeacarlisle @joshoutdoors_ @karicrowe @alfenoputra @pingrivero @jjmgrissom @xgbraun crew: @octopusisland for scouting & planning and leading us through the knowns and unknowns. my trust in you was 💯. @kleenox @williamlu115 our heroes, navigators, hype boys. these three deserve all the credit for getting us to Vegas in one piece.

@highlandparkrunners for @thespeedproject #secrets 🏴🤫 9 runners, 3 crew. 1 goal. 57 hours, 30 minutes by foot from Los Angeles to Las Vegas covering roughly 410 miles. Part 1: entering the unknown. a leap of faith. new and old friends coming together to face this adventure as one. first goal was to get as far as we could out of LA on the first night. energy was high and all we needed to do is keep one foot in front of the other. the first night watch comes and we have to make pivot. holding our breath. climbing up into the darkness and out into the sunrise. My legs wonder, how much longer can we hold on? you don’t give up. thankful for the night trail runs with the squad and the girls in Silverlake. what other surprises do we find along the way? we keep moving.
