We’re lucking out with the weather for Thursday’s performance @baltimoremuseumofart — maybe it’s these two four-leaf clovers I found?!?! Music For a Ghost River is a new site-specific performance constructed around the sounds of a buried stream that runs below the BMA Sculpture Garden. Baltimore Museum of Art April 30, 2026 — 6PM (music at 6:30) More info + logistics below. PLEASE READ if you plan to attend! ‼️ NOTE: Please arrive at the Sculpture Garden *by 6:20PM* to guarantee entrance with your ticket. This is a sold-out event. No ticket? Waitlist entrance will start after 6:20 on a first-come basis (and depending on capacity). Waitlist info is on the BMA event page. Want to come anyway? Additional overflow viewing is also available around the perimeter of the sculpture garden for walk-ins! Join us! 🧘 If you plan to sit on the grass (best seats!) definitely bring a yoga mat, blanket, or poncho, since the ground may be damp. 👉 Event page link w/ waitlist email in @publicmechanics bio ABOUT Music For a Ghost River is a new site-specific performance constructed around the sounds of a buried stream that runs below the @baltimoremuseumofart Sculpture Garden. Through microphones dropped down a storm sewer, musicians @bruce_villain @jcharney and @__prairiesky__ will use the hidden waters of this creek as an instrument, variously accompanying, manipulating, and expanding its sounds through a combination of acoustic instruments (flute, saxophone, guitar, harmonium, etc.), live sampling, and electronics. Ace sound engineer: @owlshots This performance builds on the work of Ghost Rivers, artist Bruce Willen’s public art project that visualizes the lost path of buried stream Sumwalt Run. The first site of this 1.5-mile-long installation is located just south of the BMA at Wyman Park Dell. A small branch of Sumwalt Run flows under the Sculpture Garden before emptying into the large sewer where the stream’s waters are now hidden. ✨✨✨ Thanks so much to everyone! Really blown away be the interest in this performance!

It's that time of year again! The Sound and Interactive Arts year end event: V̶i̶g̶i̶l̶ Hiatus. Long time IA faculty and sound guru Jason Sloan who normally organizes this event is on Sabbatical, so we're lamenting his absence with a one time only name change. Local group Air Wire and a selection of MICA students will perform starting at 8pm Saturday April 25th in Brown Center Leidy Auditorium. IA students will perform music and sounds from their classes and the Electronic Music Club. Students will also projection map on the building. Come early stay late! #vigil #SoundArt #marylandinstitutecollegeofart #interactivearts #projectionmapping

JUST ANNOUNCED! Music For a Ghost River is a new site-specific performance constructed around the sounds of a buried stream that runs below the @baltimoremuseumofart Sculpture Garden. Through microphones dropped down a storm sewer, the three musicians will use the hidden waters of this creek as an instrument, variously accompanying, manipulating, and expanding its sounds through a combination of acoustic instruments (flute, saxophone, guitar, harmonium, etc.), live sampling, and electronics. Baltimore Museum of Art April 30, 2026 — (rain date May 7) 6PM (music at 6:30 sharp) Free but registration highly recommended as space is limited 👉 Link in @publicmechanics bio Featuring: Bruce Willen @bruce_villain Jason Charney @jcharney Jess Keyes @__prairiesky__ This performance builds on the work of Ghost Rivers, artist Bruce Willen’s public art project that visualizes the lost path of buried stream Sumwalt Run. The first site of this 1.5-mile-long installation is located just south of the BMA at Wyman Park Dell. A small branch of Sumwalt Run flows under the Sculpture Garden before emptying into the large sewer where the stream’s waters are now hidden. Music For a Ghost River invites visitors to experience moments of contemplation and deep listening in a relaxed outdoor listening environment (feel free to bring a blanket or cushion). As the composition evolves, it echoes the history of Sumwalt Run itself. At times the voice of the water will speak alone. At others, it will be punctuated by a chorus of instruments that recall the riparian ecosystem that existed before its burial. And in other instances, its sounds will be buried under layers of electronics and effects — much like Sumwalt Run has been obscured from the landscape.

Thank you for sharing your creativity with us 🌞 Im thoroughly honored to be related to this production in any sense, and even more so to call you friends 🧡 Yall keep the glitter in my blood flowing and the little butterflies in my heart flapping. ✨️🦋With Gratitude, BRAVO 🌟🫶💕 . The tech director of Lancelot Chimera is Jason Charney - - who is quickly becoming a legendary hero of Baltimore experimental theater. In 2020 he made what you see in the video: a thesis on materializing audio and a meditation on connection.

LANCELOT CHIMERA premieres Feb. 27 - Mar. 1 at The Voxel

Jason has created several spectacular images for this show - - and you will want to see them.

performing a new piece for flute and electronics this Saturday, focusing on the difference tones that emerge across registers as oscillators and embouchure begin to drift apart. Also joining my buddy @mattsargentmusic for a duo performance of his open score piece “Several Angels”. Come on out! Saturday Jan 31, 8pm at The Red Room @highzerofoundation
