Down time means it’s time to redo the website and update some work. I gutted my whole site and started over because I wanted something incredibly simple and clean - this is a tedious aspect of our careers but also kind of fun to revisit work and realize nothing is ever quite as bad as you feared or as good as you recall. It’s also been a nice reminder of how fortunate I am to have had the many experiences I’ve enjoyed thus far.
More than a year before @michaelpolish and I went to Ireland to shoot THERE / THERE, we had a mood book that included this painting. After we made the book, we never went back and revisited it, so it came as an enormous surprise to see that we had unintentionally recreated one of our many references over a year later.

So @mdmullen1 was awarded the ASC Career Achievement in Television Award at this this years ASC awards. And while it’s obviously richly deserved, I also think it’s a bit premature because I’ve no doubt he has many many many more years of stunning work ahead of him that we’ll all get to enjoy.
As the presenter @rachelbrosnahan pointed out while introducing David, virtually everyone has some kind of David Mullen story about him helping someone, or answering some difficult question, or suggesting some film to watch as a reference for something someone wants to do - David has helped hundreds if not thousands of us over the years, both on line, through forums, or in person.
I’m particularly grateful to David because he made a very personal and significant impact on my life and career. Back in 2012 I got an email from @michaelpolish telling me he’d received my name and a recommendation from David. David had been Michael’s DoP for years as their careers came up together but David was unavailable for a film Michael was about to do. I met
Michael with enormous anxiety - in school I had studied some of the films David and Michael did together and their collaboration was so tight that the idea of them working separately seemed alien. I felt I had impossible shoes to fill and perhaps David was a fool for suggesting me. 🤓
Michael and I made that film and it was one of the best experinces I’ve ever had. More so, it began a friendship between Michael and I that’s going on 14 years and encompasses 7 films and countless experiences together both here and abroad. To say that David’s introduction and support changed my life and my career seems like something of an understatement.
So thank you David, for everything you’ve done for me, for the entire community, and for our art form. Like so many of us, I’m looking forward to seeing what you do next.
Congrats to @the__asc for 40 years of their excellent awards, and congrats to every nominee this year. This night is always a treat in part because we all gather to celebrate something that we all love and are deeply committed to, but also because it’s often one of the only times we get to see many people because our work often requires us to be away for long periods of time. As always the best part of the evening was the old friends I got to see and the new folks I got to meet.
A particular thank you to @ottonemenzintl for inviting me to join them and my dear friend @joelomba1 . And a special shout out to my classmate @matyaserdelydop for his Spotlight win!
Our Camera Workshop was a huge success! 🎥📸
We were honored to have @jaycrodop host an incredible session where participants got hands-on experience with professional camera gear, learned new techniques, and connected with fellow creatives.
Thank you to everyone who came out and made it such an amazing event. The Arizona creative community continues to inspire us!
We’re excited to host many more workshops in the future to keep bringing the film industry together. Stay tuned for the next one.

There’s not enough space to thank every single person involved with this film, but they all deserve it. Every person, every department, made this one of the most special shoots I’ve ever been a part of. We made something really magical and I can’t wait to share it with the world.
@michaelpolish@bigfun4u and @orensegal1 steered the ship and you couldn’t ask for 3 more wonderful folks to lead you.
And my crew? I should be so lucky to get to work with people this good at their jobs and this professional and so damn enjoyable to be in the trenches with.
The pleasure was truly and genuinely mine.

That’s a wrap on “Kill Me Now”. Everything about this film was unique and challenging, and when I began prep I genuinely had no idea how we’d pull off such a big endeavor with such an ambitious schedule. The answer to that question came in the form of a truly brilliant crew of the most wonderful humans. I don’t know if I’ve ever laughed this much on any shoot and I’m legitimately sad that I won’t get to see all of these people on a daily basis. My 6th feature with @michaelpolish and it’s like a marriage that only gets better with time. Some sleep (and “2nd Unit” work this weekend) await, but for now I want to scream from the rooftops that this whole team are legends and the humble pleasure has truly been mine.

Like so many other DoP’s, Robert Frank’s “The Americans” was (and remains) an enormous visual influence and source of inspiration that I continue to return to. It was surreal when I was scouting this location in Butte, MT to realize I was standing in the very room where he took “View from Hotel Window”. I briefly considered taking the time to try to recreate it, but instead elected to take a quick photo and instead just remain present and enjoy the experience (and we had a lot of other locations to see that day). What’s truly wild is how much of the original town is still there and seemingly unchanged between now and when he took this photo in 1956.

It’s here! It’s finally here! The greatest day of the year has arrived. It’s National Coffee Day, which is like all the holidays mixed into one and then made even better. Drink up and celebrate.

The Peel It Back tour with @nineinchnails was incredible. Trent Reznor was in top form and the visuals and lighting were stunning (@tossfilm is the lighting designer and the show is truly beautiful). But perhaps the biggest shoutout of all should go to @ianhurdle , the camera operator on stage. He literally ran from stage to stage non-stop for the entire 2 hour show and the timing of his operating along with the music elevated the entire show - total rockstar. And yes, these are the only two photos I took on my phone - concerts should be experienced by an audience, not recorded.

I’m very excited and grateful to be joining @artistry.agency for representation, and equally excited to be doing it with my agent of 7+ years, @danbside .
