Dorian Jay Durrah

@jay_durrah

I am a modern day impressionist painter. Some of you are familiar with pointillism. My portraits are similar, but I use bigger strokes.

I love repeat customers, especially when they are under 30 and appreciate the value of investing in art. Aaron Inman is that dude. I appreciate your business. Paris Inman, Aaron’s father, client and fellow bison, YOU DONE GOOD.

Howard artists, this is your canvas. In collaboration with the Howard University School of Business, the Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts invites students to design an original mural for a newly renovated technology space—an opportunity to translate vision into impact through storytelling, design, and cultural reflection. The selected artist will receive a $5,000 stipend and collaborate with acclaimed muralist and Howard alumnus Jay Durrah (@jay_durrah ) to bring the final work to life. Submissions are open now through June 1. Apply via link in bio. 🔗 #ChadwickABosemanCollegeOfFineArts #HUSchoolofBusiness #MuralArt #ArtsAndCulture #HowardUniversity

My Knickas is my latest creation. From what my Grandad told me, back in the early 20th century, young men didn’t wear long pants until they were about 16. Transitioning from knickers to long pants was a rite of passage. 30” x 40” Acrylic on cavas

Last night ended this sessions Portrait Drawing class at VisArts. We had a live model. The new session which starts next week is in jeopardy of being cancelled if I do not get a few more students. If you are interested in learning to draw portraits, please go to VisArts and sign up for my Tuesday evening class. I also have a portrait painting class in greater jeopardy of being cancelled. Some have asked if the class can be taught on-line. I have to develop an on-line course.

This newest commission is of the girlfriend of a former co-worker. Her favorite color is periwinkle. I had to look that color up. It’s a shade of purple.
