On site this morning at our East Hampton project as the sanitary system is being installed. This will be a wick system extending over 60’ deep.
Wick systems are typically used when native soils lack the permeability needed for a conventional leaching system—meaning there isn’t enough sand or suitable material at shallower depths to properly treat wastewater. Instead of relying on horizontal dispersal, this system utilizes vertical drainage through deep, engineered columns that allow effluent to slowly filter through more suitable soils far below grade.
It’s a complex and highly engineered solution, but often the only viable option on sites with poor soil conditions. Always impressive to see these systems installed in the field.

Within these walls were birthdays, quiet mornings, late-night conversations, and years of memories that shaped the people who lived here. This house has done its job well.
Soon it will make way for something new, but the stories that happened here will always belong to this place.

@portolapaints being installed on a fireplace mass. We’ve found this finish to be great to work with and the results speak for themselves. It’s a great way to elevate certain areas of a home while achieving a plaster-like look with a much simpler installation process.
