SOUL TIES takes the stage in NYC this June. Jason Herbert presents an excerpt of Soul Ties as part of 8 in Show at Dixon Place @dixonplace presented by @creativeperformances šŸ“ Tuesday, June 17, 2026 šŸ•¢ 7:30 PM šŸ“ Dixon Place Soul Ties traces the spiritual, emotional, and ancestral bonds that connect people across generations. Rooted in postmodern aesthetics and infused with African diasporic movement, modern dance, jazz, and anthropological storytelling, the work explores how identity, resilience, spirituality, and inherited memory continue to shape the human experience through one invisible thread. This is dance as living archive. This is culture carried through the body. This is history in motion. Through rhythm, ceremony, instinct, shared gestures, and collective resilience, the dancers become living museums—preserving legacy through movement. šŸŽŸļø Tickets on sale now Purchase tickets through the link in bio / below. Story Time/Long Post Alert! I’ve been contemplating doing this particular post but I trust in god to order my steps and fight these battles. November 10th, 2025 I underwent a long overdue Full Achilles Tendon surgery. Why was my Achilles only attached by about 15%-20% and didn’t even know. šŸ˜’ Ouch!! Don’t be sad because it was the first time in 25 years of dancing that I’ve had to take off more than a week or two. I feel so blessed for the body that has kept me. I also felt so defeated because I’m a full time artists and have a second career in media with @thejrmediagroup and this meant no standing walking running or dancing or money for months. To top it off, mental health shifted while Sunday online church, allot of prayer/meditation, and weekly psychiatrist kept me together. Debt increased and so much more but I persevered. Tomorrow, March 10th will be the 4th month in recovery from my surgery and two months out of a very heavy boot. All the while I choreographed and presented 10 new or in progress ballets in 2025. More than I ever did in my performing career. Thus, god told me it’s time. Ever since then, ballets, movements, themes, and dancers have been pouring out of me emotionally and mentally but I haven’t dance myself since my first American Dance Festival performance summer 2025 with Forces. Today I stepped out on faith, prayed for this new Achilles, worked out a bit, and turned on the music in preparation for the premier of my newest work in progress, ā€œSoul Tiesā€. I’ve was invited to present a work in Dixon Place’s dance series ā€œ8 in Showā€ @creativeperformances šŸ™šŸ¾ šŸ—“ Wednesday, June 17, 2026 ā° 7:30 PM šŸ“ 161A Chrystie Street, New York, NY 10002 Save the date. More details to come but here’s a sneak peak of an improve that I most likely will never set as I perform in June for the first time after the surgery. Just wanted to feel something besides walking a dog. It will be a very special evening for me and I will be very emotional so come watch a brother from harlem and a few phenomenal dancers who I adore so much share what we’ve been working on. You know my motto. There’s more to come so stay tuned!!!! #jasonherbertdance
