July 3, 2021.
I lost a friend and a brother, Rene G. Haley.
We have been friends since we were 5. I have spent every year of my life with Rene. I don’t think we would let 2/3 months past without seeing each other lol. We never out grew each other just held each other up.
I am fortunate and grateful for every moment spent with him (even when he got on my nerves). I am happy to have as many memories as I do. Our last moments were great, I ate as his apartment. I told him how much I loved him and how proud I was of him. I got to laugh and talk to my brother. He made sure I got home safely and I got my hugsss and kisses from that big goof.
I can’t believe he’s not physically here anymore but I know I have someone in heaven making sure I’m straight. I know he got me.
My own guardian Angel. #LLR🕊
every year is a blessing and I never need much for my birthday. my goal is to bring my community together, ki and party. maybe dance lol
SOOoooooo while I was trying to plan my own birthday party
my friends showed up all the way up and surprised me with anyone I call a friend in NY
(& ON A SCHOOL NIGHT)
I fully thought I was running late for dinner 😂
Thank you to Desmond, Alicia and Zoe for the best birthday I could have imagined.
Here’s a recap from the opening reception for “The Water Carries Us” currently on view at the gallery. This exhibit is a multidisciplinary art installation exploring water as a metaphor for memory, migration, rebirth, healing, and connection. Water becomes the visual and spiritual thread linking ancestral heritage, the transatlantic slave trade, ritual cleansing, baptism, music, and Black futurism.
Keep an eye out for gallery hours coming soon, and let us know if you’d like a private tour.

Water That Carries Us — a multidisciplinary art installation exploring water as a metaphor for memory, migration, rebirth, healing, and connection.
Water, to me, is the foundation of life whether in our bodies or the earth. My foundation is my family, and at its center are four generations of women. We mirror one another in our looks, our mannerisms, and our ideals.
We are a force.
This is a celebration of my lineage and an ode to my Nana.
My piece consists of:
* Collages and photo album sleeves with archived images I’ve taken over the years, alongside family photos, arranged in the shape of a cross
* Two portraits of my Nana :)
On display until 4/18 at Station 3510
Thank you @000070n for pushing me to do this and curating an amazing show.
