Would do it again and againā¦

elated to begin sharing the work and words of the artists in the inaugural Black Magic Rodeo Residency, starting with the DMVās own Amber Aisha! a dynamic storyteller that uses portraiture as her super power, Amberās presence during the residency was immediately felt.
one of the delights of creating the space for each artist to thrive was seeing how each person pushed themselves past previous limitations and ascended into a new workflow. as each day passed, i had the pleasure of seeing Amber reach a limit & surpass it and also push others to do the same.
one thing i didnāt expect to learn about Amber was her deep love of all things birds & cars. observing what her eyes gravitated towards opened up a new understanding for her process and an appreciation for the wonderful images she creates. although small in stature, her presence is immediately felt like the classic cars she loves to document & is able to float through a rodeo crowd like a playful bird simply enjoying their ability to fly.
Amber Aisha. another day closer to the rodeo.
many thanks to @boleyoklahoma & @karenlynnekuban for the opportunity!š
