greetiiiiings! the time has come for me to present my graduate voice recital on Sunday, 3/17/24! in over a week's time… what a quick and valuable ride grad school at
@msm.nyc has been!
i’m so excited to be presenting some Vivaldi, Brahms, Barber, Ravel and Black American music that makes this recital feel quite special. i’m especially thrilled to perform some early tunes by the benevolent
@beverlyglenncopeland and one of my favorite works by a hometown hero, Duke Ellington. shoutout and deeeep gratitude to the special musician friends + collaborators who graciously agreed to join me on this program. it’s also a great joy to have the first friend i made in undergrad, my dear sister,
@_fisherrrrrr as narrator of the words once spoken + written by the Black women writers who inspired and affirmed my own sentiments of the meaning of home: as a place to love, to belong, to organize, and to resist.
i'm humbled under the floor, but so blessed. this recital is a dedication to so many who sent their love + support from home to here and anywhere! this program is a special dedication to the memory of my late grandmother, Jo Ann Marshall, who is one of my earliest reasons to be an artist and who will be featured with a posthumous recorded performance. the livestream link will be available in the bio! sending love, hope to see you there!
thinking of words to say to my 14-year-old self right now……
