FEST friends. Thank you all for the kind words about Fest 24. We’re very much looking forward to it and honored to be a part of this insane lineup. It’s been 10 years since we played a show, 25 years since Dead Reckoning was released, and 30 years since we started this band. RIP T. We‘ll give it our all to carry the torch. ❤️🔥
It’s been a real treat to join Matt & Britt in Ozenza, our first show back is Oigs Fest 9 in Kalamazoo this Saturday 4/4. Come out to Papa Pete’s and watch the walls melt…

FAMILIARS FROM ANOTHER LIFE, the third album from Detroit’s KIND BEAST, will see its release NOV 21, 2025 on Don Giovanni Records and is available for PRE-ORDER today (link in bio).
Two years in the making, FAMILIARS expands the group’s night-rock ethos and offers their most rhythmic, guitar-centric output yet, and also their most conceptual. The album revolves around explorations of “The Familiar” archetype, beings whom upon first encounter feel immediately and universally intimate—good, evil or otherwise.
Lead-off track “In It To Win It” (streaming now) revisits noir tropes of young love and violence, “hitting the road” as journey of crime and transcendence (themes most famously exemplified in Terrence Malick’s Badlands and Arthur Penn’s Bonnie and Clyde), set here to a Sabbath-meets-Fleetwood groove. Backing vocals by @joephilips .
Basic tracking for FAMILIARS was recorded live at @magpiecage by J. Robbins, with additional recording and mixing/mastering by @zshipps at RV Audio Lab in Ferndale, Michigan. Cover photography is by @nograve ; album design is by @jaquintd .
Please stay tuned for additional songs and videos, and expanded credits. A release show is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 8 at The Lexington, Detroit w/ @gusher_det , @culttherapymusic , and @dyzioek_music .
Dale—my buddy and president of that larger than life club, you left us way too soon. I wish our recent calls connected but I’ll have to rely on a treasure trove of texts and memories. Your skill of retainment however has all the better details; stories of which we only know the surfaces of will be gone with you. You always showed me warmth, thank you for being so caring towards me in my life. The distance apart and rapid fire quest of walking on earth goes by in a blur at times, but I can stop and focus on your smile, often accompanied by random ass interjections, whether it was purposeful or accidental comedy. Monumental one-ups, hot gossip, and scene stealing… I loved it all. We’re losing a powerful and wise presence, irreplaceable and enduring, top Lansing frontman. Did I mention your sweet sweet voice? Forever my Double Dee.
Travis John, Daniel John… we shared so much in this life and I was lucky to have such a huge friendship with you. In my experience, life quiets down a bit as you get older, but the whole world of you leaving us will be a deafening silence.
The Small Brown Bike post was beautifully worded and very true. The light shined on the band because of your overwhelming presence and attitude, but more than that: we were driveway basketball players, custom junk bikers, cookie jar raiders, nintendo button mashers, basement fort builders, prank call makers, I could go on and on. We had countless best friend moments and interactions since we were 10 years old that continued on and never left, and won’t leave me. That is rare.
Thanks for making me crack up so hard every time I was with you, and for being real and emotional and making my life super colorful. - I’ll miss you all the way my brother and I love you.

Hi all—I think this is my best musical work to date. Dirty Realism by KIND BEAST breaks out into the world today. See if you agree? You must blast your speakers. I obviously couldn’t have done it without the strength of my band mates @seanmadiganhoen , @stonegregory , & Sean Bondareff. We put our hearts deeply into this, and I would love to see you at our big release show in Detroit, in one week, on Sat. Dec. 16th. Great old friends/fellow bands (@84tigersband , @msord ) are in tow, so it’s good times abound. We have fresh vinyl (thank you @dongiovannirecords ) and shirts, and I’ll probably buy you a drink. This is it for a while, the Beast must hibernate. #kindbeast #dirtyrealism #dongiovanni - painting by @bumbokrawczyk
