Some projects come easy, others not as much - and some projects come your way so fast and feel like they happen overnight. Getting the chance to work on the inaugural seasons FW25/SS26 of Adistar Control 5 was just that - take an archive gem, and bring it in to today, as quick as possible. Was a lot of fun to work on some classic essential colourways for the first season in Unisex, and there’s only more to come! Stoked to see some archive 00s Adi runners getting the love they deserve. As always, shoutout to the wonderful team for the grind and getting this out there: @dimitri.gab āœļø @melchmar 🧪 @matters_amm @andremezz šŸ’» šŸŽØ Myself Photos from @solebox @asphaltgold @hhvclothing @titoloshop

Been a hot minute since I posted some projects I got to take part in - so here goes! SL72 PT - standing for Prototype (though this particular model is just based off a very early SL72 model from the 70’s). This was super fun and incredibly difficult to get right - lots of old details from the archive like the leather texture in the eyestay, the lace thread, even down to the use of Nylon stripes instead of the usual synthetic leather. Even harder when the only one from the archive was on display at an exhibition (last two images) - it meant lots of revisits to get it right! One to be proud of - featuring the crazy talented team as always @plelbb working his wizardry on product design, @carmelnaughton and her ever amazing patience in the development, and @d.errik for seeing it through to market. Images are not all mine, some are from @43einhalb @sneakerpolitics

For the Adizero Aruku, we really set out to create something that honoured the electric energy of the iconic Adizero performance line, whilst keeping in mind the modern lifestyle consumer and how they may adopt it for themselves. Adizero is, and always has been, the most pinnacle expression of Adidasā€˜ performance line, from cutting edge materials to expressive colour combinations, and we didn’t want the decision stepping into lifestyle to feel any different - though we still had to make sure it was versatile enough for a broader audience. To do this, it was important to reflect into the brands history, and make sure we created a strong colour and material perspective that could also be adorned in the streets and compliment modern apparel choices. The original reference from Product Design of the Adizero PR (PR standing for Personal Record) had such an impactful colour blocking with the contrast of the cage and the mesh, alongside the contrasted stripes, it truly inspired us to use this as the baseline for creating an impactful colour way. Of course, Adizero is also synonymous with the Marathon and the running community at large, so to anchor the launch colour way in that electric environment felt very natural. The feeling of approaching race day, checkered flags and brightly coloured finish lines just felt right, and gave birth to a truly fitting colour way that lives up to the Adizero name. Lastly to thank those who helped this product (and my first running CAM project!) come to life, without which certainly wouldn’t have been possible. Dimitri, your full trust and collaboration on handling this baby of yours meant we got to truly create something design led and that we are proud of. Katharina, your unwavered patience and curiosity that helped navigate every whacky and annoying problem and proposition that we had from design, paved the way to make this all possible. Senya and Gaetan, your backing and accommodation of the vision despite its many challenges meant that this product came to life, so thank you all of you! ā€œRoad to UEFA Euro 2024ā€ Now that the sting of England not winning the final has worn off, feel like it’s a good time to catch up on this project šŸ˜… Building on the momentum of the love for the brands bright and colourful archive, with this pack we set to map out a road of storytelling based around the build up to the upcoming European tournament: Euro 2024. Set up of games being played in numerous key cities around Germany, we wanted to tell stories of places that the thousands of fans would likely encounter, whether that be on their way to the stadiums, passing through airports, or even a bit of sight-seeing on their travels. This paved way to create some unique colour-ways that previously might never had made it onto some of these iconic city series, and man we’re happy with the result (the shoes, not the final 🄲) Just to dial these up even more, each colour way arrived with a beautifully illustrated postcard, showcasing the shoes in the area of inspiration. Be that München airport with them desperately strapped to your luggage, a seagull stealing them at Hamburgs famous Fish market, taking them for a ride through Kƶln’s city centre or kicking them off to enjoy a picnic in Stuttgarts sunny vineyards, we wanted each card to paint a vivid story. And there’s no one I could have trusted more for this task than the ever a talented @opheliekimpe Thanks so much for helping bring these to life šŸ’ŖšŸ» After all this, there was one final detail - the pair matching the place of the final, Berlin, was to be made in Germany. A true end for collectors, limited to 2024 pairs. Specials thanks to @jacklittlechild @marty__love__ for being the brains behind the great idea for the series, and letting myself and Ophelie let our imaginations run wild with this one. FW24 Gazelle Indoor - ā€œOlympic Flameā€ or ā€œPinstripe Packā€ Had way too much fun with this pack! Taking a dive into what many consider the ā€œgolden eraā€ of the adidas archive, we were inspired by the punchy colours and wonderful material mixes of a wide range of sports performance product of the 70s and 80s, most notably those that were on the world stage during the Olympics. From track spikes to tracksuits, there was so much to go after, but nothing felt more iconic than the Trefoil adorned sateen sprinter shorts, complete with pin stripe detailing; a perfect substitute for a nylon-based Gazelle. If you were to collect all 3, you’ll notice they all connect to make the 5 colours of the Olympic rings - which landed just in time for this years games. A personal favourite of the season, and as always an amazing team to bring these to lifeā¤ļøšŸ’™šŸ’ššŸ–¤šŸ’› @jacklittlechild Product Marketing šŸ’» @marcodttrch Development 🧪 Design Myself Special shout to Tiffany Nadia from the wonderful Materials team who put up with my constant nagging on finding the perfect material for this project - couldn’t have done it without them! Still catching up… Where do I even start on this one. Firstly, it’s such a privilege to have been a part of bringing the Bali back to life. If you ask any terrace head whats one of the most allusive silhouettes/colourways out there, the Bali nearly always comes up and for good reason. In similar shades to the also extremely popular Tahiti, the Bali was always seen as a bit of a mystery, as it’s hard to tell really what its original and true form looked like. There’s hardly any photos around of it (and we could only find 1 catalogue image, last photo!), mainly due to the fact not many people have a pair. The ones that do exist all tell a different story either completely worn out, or entirely different colours either due to storage, re-dyeing or aging - so not an easy task! But, as is the charm of the adidas archive, we did the best with what we had access to, and created something we are proud of that lives up to the spirit of the product. Looking back, we still see different photos of the scattered pairs that are left, all telling their unique shades of blue (photos 10-11, @tonygohlc photos for example), and this only makes me smile. When you’re working on the design for this it’s easy to get lost in the endless loop of ā€œis it good enough? Is it close enough?ā€, but at the end of the day it’s all out of love for the product, and I couldn’t be prouder šŸ’™šŸ©µ None of this project would have been possible without the always kind and helpful @a_distant_ship_smoke , and the photos of his pair at the time (3-7). And of course without the Classic team as always for bringing it all together. Man, have I got some catching up to do on some recent work šŸ˜… This year has been a crazy ride of opportunity to work on some of the most iconic models Originals has, and what a privilege it still is to do so. Here’s some of my favourites from the Handball SPZL world I had the honour of playing around with for SS24 and going into Fall/Winter. Starting with the ā€œvintage packā€. Standard practice by now, all inspired by @a_distant_ship_smoke ā€˜s beautiful yellow Spezials, we decided to kick off a bunch of staple colourways for everyone to enjoy! Complete with contrast stitch, vintage gum shades and bright suede. The last are a few favourites from the range, from clean summer leathers, to pastel Terrace icons. As always, it’s a monumental team effort to bring this all to life, and had the best team to do it šŸ’ŖšŸ» @alicealfaroli team lead šŸ’ŖšŸ» @coliv4 Development 🧪 @marcodttrch Development 🧪 @jacklittlechild Product Marketing šŸ’» @martylove_85 Product Marketing šŸ’» Photo credit to the many amazing accounts for the dope images! @hhvclothing @blends @43einhalb @firmxstore @ourdailydoseid @sizeofficial @christopher @packer @firmxstore

Introducing the Hand II. Little late on posting this one, feels like I am constantly playing catch up with some of this years/next years projects šŸ‘€ Based off of a crazy rare Made in Spain version to the iconic Handball spezial, as always with some of my earlier projects, I only had 1 fuzzy internet image to go off of (check last slide). I swear @warheadnl was just testing my abilities early onšŸ˜‚ after a few rounds, thankfully the hero @a_distant_ship_smoke managed to help out with bringing this beauty back to life, and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Nothing comes together as well as blue suede, white accents and gum on a terrace model, at least, not as much as green suede šŸ‘€ had to make a new classic for this special one from me šŸ˜…šŸ’š Design: myself Marketing: @warheadnl Development: @coliv4 Moral support: @a_distant_ship_smoke @joellling Photos from @asphaltgold @aphroditeclothing94

Some recent favourites from the Terrace range for Spring/Summer. Bermudas were an obvious decision when we realised we had never taken direct inspiration from the famous pink sand on the beaches. Following the pack up with a sunset inspired tonal upper to close the chapter. Yellow always looks so damn good on low suedes. Handball SPZL’s just because they look so good in tumbled leather. Shout out as always to the team Product marketing: @warheadnl @martylove_85 @jacklittlechild Development: Cleber DeOliveira @43einhalb @asphaltgold for the pics

One of my favourite projects so far at the Classics team: Gazelle for SS23. Vintage pack inspired by the Made in Canada Gazelle from the mid 80s.
