@officialmichaeljai raised a really interesting point during his visit to the pod. He said he was raised to believe a good man was someone who kept his infidelities quiet (no messy sidechick drama etc). He spoke so highly of his wife @iamgillianwhite but said even he was surprised to discover he could be happy with one woman. The couple currently appear together in his film #TroubleMan which he also directed. #podcast #heyjaneé #actress #relationships #marriage #blackmendontcheat #blacklove Do you agree with this take? If you used to think this way too, what changed your mind?

It’s been a busy few weeks but I wanted to make sure my Meryl Streep and @annehathaway interview got a proper IG post.
Last month I was honored to be invited to interview the cast of The Devil Wears Prada in NYC. When I got to the screening and realized the film deals with the current media landscape, it truly hit home.
For those who may not know my story, I was impacted my layoffs at iOne Digital last February and said goodbye to my teams at GlobalGrind and Bossip (where I had worked for 15 years).
I’m still writing my next chapter, but navigating the current media landscape has come with plenty of challenges! Thanks @thegrio for giving this story a home and @tabreshal for the opportunity.
Watching strong women being creative, intelligent and talented enough to turn the tables in their favor inspired my first question for Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway. I really really loved their answers, especially Meryl’s advice to stay flexible.
For all the people who are facing challenges right now, especially in this job market, please understand that you have power, there is power in pivoting.
Bonus slide: I interviewed Anne Hathaway years ago and she was just as thoughtful (and FUN). For full context, I asked her what inspired her character’s accent for The Witches.
While The Devil Wears Prada 2 will undoubtedly have you paying close attention to the actors’ wardrobes, I recently learned that Stanley Tucci is probably most concerned with his footwear off the set. In a recent interview alongside co-star Emily Blunt, who also happens to be his sister-in-law, Tucci revealed he will not remove his shoes, even when he is a guest in other people’s homes.
“I can only be barefoot when I’m in bed. That’s it,” Tucci said.
Sock— 😏 I mean — Shocking, amirite? #noshoesinsidethehouse #thedevilwearsprada
Would you let Stanley break your house rules?
We had a great conversation around race and identity with @iam_mali on the new episode of @heyjaneepodcast . How do you deal with people asking ‘what are you?’ Have you ever felt like you had to choose one culture over another?

Shout out to the ones left brokenhearted! 💔@heyjaneepodcast guest @iam_mali opened up about experiencing her first real love with @theblackbanker . She says they prayed together before writing the songs that became her album ‘Retro in Real Time’. You can hear the true love in the music! Watch the full episode on YouTube.
This week @heyjaneepodcast welcomed the amazing and talented singer/songwriter @iam_mali to the show. The longtime studio owner/manager, chef and event producer opened up about how love was pivotal to her transformational journey, and the role how longtime friends turned to collaborators and connectors when it came time to create her album ‘Retro in Real Time.’ The full episode is live on YouTube (link in bio).
I had a birthday last week. I honestly have been sitting with my feelings before making a post. I thought I might have the birthday blues. I thought my depression might be back. I’m still not sure but I do feel better. Maybe because I shopped this weekend. Maybe because I rested. Probably because I rested.
As a full-time entrepreneur I have a hard time resting. I’ve been doing as much as I can to keep my bills paid and mom and Fletcher taken care of. I’m writing freelance, consulting, doing content creation. Using my transferrable skills, adding new skills, networking, planning and creating.
Last year I launched @heyjaneepodcast two days after my birthday. The IG account has almost 1K followers now. My YouTube channel has over 1500 subscribers. I’ve accomplished a lot since leaving Bossip last February. I wrote an essay for Okayplayer that ended up on a Best of 2025 music writing list. I wrote my first stories for ESSENCE, Newsweek, The Hollywood Reporter and THE Rolling Stone. I interviewed Meryl Streep!!!
I’m most proud of the podcast because it looks good, it sounds good and it makes me feel good - both recording and listening back. I’ve had MAJOR guests like Stephanie Mills, KEM, Michael Jai White and Jekalyn Carr, just to name a few. But my show isn’t about celebrity. It’s about humanity. It’s about helping creatives navigate life’s challenges mindfully.
Truthfully, all I want for my birthday is more people living mindfully. Spending time with their feelings, regulating their emotions. Making life more beautiful. If you want to give me a birthday gift subscribe to my YouTube, subscribe to Hey Janeé Podcast and watch or listen. Your support means everything. (I also accept cash, venmo, zelle, paypal and apple pay).
