Look ma, we won an award 🥹✨
But in all seriousness, we dedicate this recognition to the 100+ journalists who’ve lost their lives in Gaza and those who continue to be truth tellers 🇵🇸
Thank you @aajaofficial 🙏🏽
Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would call myself a playwright. I had an idea that I could not stop thinking about so I spent three years writing it. I daydreamed what it would look like to have an all brown cast stand on stage and tell a story centered around Muslims and relationships. I wrote these words not thinking anyone would ever read it — let alone perform it. And yet somehow we sold out three nights at the @newyorktheaterfestival and I have had dozens of people tell me how seen they’ve felt while watching it.
Since 2019, I’ve had this quote hanging above my computer that I read everyday: “If you daydream about it and it doesn’t exist yet, I’m sorry: it falls to you to make it happen. Find collaborators who can see what you see. Pencils up. Let’s go.”
Below are the collaborators who trusted in me and my pencil. These incredible people are the reason why I’m able to make this post right now. Nothing but love for my @arrangements_play fam aka the only people I would consider scuba diving in the Hudson with.

Haiye, broadway just got browner.
Excited to announce my play, Arrangements, coming to the @newyorktheaterfestival this July.
This play explores modern Pakistani arranged marriages and all the *baggage* it comes with. Ikyk. Writing this show had been a cathartic and creative endeavor and I’m excited to share what many talented people have been collaborating on to bring this to life on stage.
