A progression: I think I fucking love baseball? Three midwesterners in the big city: @jerrydoran and @adeebhakim were rooting for their beloved Cubbies but me (tbh I lean a little Mets) I’m rooting for me and you and all y’all and everyone I haven’t even met yet—we made it through some hard times and man I wish I could express the joy I feel today. US tour begins July 2 honestly hit me up ‘cause I don’t have a return ticket—I’m vaccinated and have so many pent up hugs. #LGM #cubbies
I only knew @newyorkromantic Hash a little bit from chatting here and would stop and say hi when I saw him working because he was so friendly and kind, but seeing evidence of his presence around the city always put a smile on my face. He had a recent show at @artofourcentury and one that opened just this weekend and I was so happy to see him finding success. I hope your heart is at peace. We’ll miss you down here. I don’t know the right words to say today.
While everyone was baking sourdough last year, I was killing multiple starters. I took some music lessons online and haven’t picked up the instrument since my last day of class. I didn’t get quietly fit, I can still barely stand up in my rainbow roller skates, and I’ve been consistently churning out disaster after disaster in my kitchen. But I did finally start taking jewelry classes at @ayakanishischool . I moved to NY, giving up a full scholarship to another school (🤦🏽♀️) because I really thought I could get my masters and a degree in metalsmithing at the same time. Nothing worked out like I planned it, but 8 years after moving here I let myself dream a little again. Last year was rough in so many ways for so many people, and I didn’t post my work then for so many reasons, even though I was so thrilled to be making things again. I’m back at the bench again and so excited for all the projects that have been bubbling in my brain for the last year. We had a very lazy Eid but finally got dressed up for some pics . . . now on to all the oysters Boston has to offer! So grateful to be vaccinated and spending the day with mom and sis. Eid Mubarak!
Day 17 of Ramadan. Just remembering a long ago trip to Urumqi, Kashgar, Turpan, Tuyoq, and the Flaming Mountains in Xianjiang. I treasure those memories of visiting temples, mosques, sacred caves, even giant evangelical churches in Beijing, and feeling the weight of centuries of shifting belief. Thinking of the Uigher people today.
