A curious mind fueled by other curious minds — driven by education, passion, and appreciation for the underappreciated.
I grew up, a boy in Brooklyn ,with fear and disgust for the unknown. Insects, arachnids, and invertebrates were things to avoid, shaped by Hollywood’s portrayal of them as monsters and nightmares.
A few years ago, curiosity slowly replaced fear. What I once avoided became something I wanted to understand, appreciate, and respect.
Mr. @rickerchristopher , with his deep knowledge and equal appreciation for these creatures, has only fueled that curiosity even more.
The insectarium at the @sichildrensmuseum in Snug Harbor Staten Island , hosted by @rickerchristopher ,Victoria and @freshkillspark staff was such an educational experience .
From children to kids at heart opened their minds to the once scary miniature world .
It’s programming like this that brings light and education to the public.
I hope to see more of this
Thank you @freshkillspark@sichildrensmuseum Chris , Victoria and the rest of the staff and volunteers that make events like this happen.

I was asked if I could choose now or how it was 30 years ago? What was a better time ?
I choose now . I have mechanical abilities and experience. Much of which was learned from cHilton manuals, my job as a mechanic in my younger years and good ol solid advice from my elders .
Now I am the elder but I don’t work on my cars like I used to .
If not for the advice on you tube I would have broken 5 hoses, and probably would need to spend $800 in replacing parts on this $100 job.
This 1.5 hour job would have been extended to 5 hours .
Here is a simple valve cover gasket and fuel pump inspection on A newer car purchased for one of our kids .
The patience I have now , with solid knowledge and the help of YouTube .
We didn’t plan it . But our date brought us to a Gluten Free Mexican Spot In Jersey. We chose a seat and held hands and that when I looked up and I saw this Behind her .
10 years my sweetheart !
The food was authentic served by a lady with limited English which made it feel so much more authentic.
Found this tiny guy already curled up . Don’t know what killed him but he’s not moving . Great time for a photo . Google says it’s a blacklace weaver. #blacklaceweaver
