We have an hour left in the 2026 Staten Island Bio-Blitz at Clove Lakes Park! Over the course of the two days 175 participants and scientists attended public programs. 576 observations so far with 241 species. It has been such a great weekend with The Freshkills Park Alliance, SI zoo, Greenbelt Conservancy, PPOWs, UPRs, Wildlife Unit, Bee Conservancy, DOH, NYC Parks and more... See you next year at the Staten Island Bio-Blitz 2027 (10 year anniversary)

Another amazing opportunity to bring our Freshkills Park CTE students to @makerspacenyc for Day 2 of Introduction to Welding. These students had an AMAZING time. Teaching young adults the importance of trade skills and career development has made our year! From the Trails to the Trades!

July/August 2026 I will be releasing my second book of short stories DINNER IN THE FLORIDA KEYS, ARP PRESS. Future event details to come! "Ricker’s tales of far south Florida crawl like early sunlight up a stucco wall. Most embark with the energy of exiting a nightclub. When the door shuts at your back and the music is suddenly muffled. Now, with the party of youth behind him, the real work begins. Studying every bungalow and sidestreet like a Spanish explorer. Each story here is like an entry in a field guide for aging dreamers." -Sean Tierney

We have been working with The Staten Island Zoo and Port Richmond High School on an Environmental Symposium at Goodhue Park. Students are conducting biological and climate surveys and will be reporting their findings and suggestions to a panel of natural resource managers and local politicians to come us with solutions for their community park.
