"Ricker’s tales of far south Florida crawl like early sunlight up a stucco wall. Most embark with the energy of exiting a nightclub. When the door shuts at your back and the music is suddenly muffled. Now, with the party of youth behind him, the real work begins. Studying every bungalow and sidestreet like a Spanish explorer. Each story here is like an entry in a field guide for aging dreamers."
