What a pack of legends. That’s a wrap for Rookie Rippers 2026. This time we made the mission to the Canary Islands in search of some punchy setups. These are a few stills and a clip or two from the trip that I pulled together today. It’s been epic to be involved with this project the last few years and to switch to a more explorative concept has been refreshing after the years being involved with the project. The future generation of @oneilleurope is in good hands with this whitty crew of surfers. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for this bunch.

Still buzzing on the last trip out to this special patch. It was the first time I was in the zone when a swell this size hit the reef. It’s an exposed reef break so picks up lots of swell but this was the swell with the most energy I’ve had the pleasure of surfing out there. It was a tricky day with insane rips on the peak and occasionally bomb sets that would peak up deeper on the outside ledge. We missed a couple of those waves because they came every hour or so. A big set started to pull in and I let the first few go as I had priority and saw something bigger in the set. I scratched to the horizon as some bombs went under me hoping to line up with something bigger. This thing popped up and I was far enough out to paddle to fetch it and turn and go. I took off behind the peak and used all my weight to keep myself from sliding out. As I got to the bottom of the wave I had a perfect moment, wrapped up in blue. A big perfect indo cylinder. The wave sucked air up into the tube as the lip landed next to me and I bounced over the shockwave to get cheers from the channel. This might just be the best wave I’ve had out there. You can tell by how far @jordymasters shot this that this wave broke on a completely different ledge on the reef. Thanks for being in the zone bru!

When @jordymasters and I first met for the first time it was via an instagram DM. My hair was long, I was a fairy and pulling into Longbeach shorebreak got the blood pumping. He asked me if he could chase a session with me and from the moment we met we just clicked. Fast forward a few years and life is very different. Jordy works on superyachts and I live in Amsterdam. Miles apart yet still thick as thieves. Sometimes we get to reconnect and it was refreshing to have a few link ups in the water as I am normally filming and not in front of the lense. Jordy captured this shot of me on day 3 of a 10 day swell bender on our recent trip to Sumatra. It’s a memory I will hold onto forever. The colour of the ocean, the jungle in the background and a moment locked in time between two best friends. Not to mention it’s my favourite wave on planet earth. Looking forward to many more link ups with you @jordymasters 💙

I’ve been known to go on loads of surf trips and keep footage for whatever reason. I like to think I am saving it up for something bigger rather than throwing one or two clips together for social media. Some may think it’s unproductive. I set aside a challenge for myself to create a sort of visual CV to try and enter my niche as a filmmaker here in Europe. My idea was to create a story about myself and my relationship with the sea and my camera. After a few months of digging for visuals, refining the custom soundscape with @mikestrever and letting the creative process take over. I am happy to share with you the story. Thanks for those we’re involved in my journey to where I am today. // The sound is experienced best with headphones.

Flashback to a wave I can still remember so well. Located at my local patch which I miss daily. Pretty hyped day back then. With the swell pulling in but it lived up to the hype which is rare for this spot. Low tide in the am left room for a long day watching the swell fill in and just waiting for it to shape up as the tide was too low. This was into the afternoon, with a thick crowd so Idecided to cockroach on the inside. Saw a mate of mine going but he was too far out. So I turned him and scored the most perfect wave I’ve had out there. Came out towards the 🔔 Flashback by @pbsurfing2010

An island in the middle of the Atlantic 700km West of North Africa yet still considered Portugal. A magical array of landscapes, people and experiences.
