Check out this scene from “For Years to Come,” an irreverent romantic dramedy about a gay man who falls in love with his dead mother’s hospice nurse while struggling to reconcile with his elderly father, who’s secretly a porn director. Catch the full pilot at the link in the bio!
.
In honor of #nationalcomingoutday we wanted to share this quick scene from the pilot episode. We’ve always said this show is not about coming out - it focuses on queer adults long past the coming-out process, still dealing with a myriad human conflicts beyond those associated with their queer identities. As queer representation advances, it’s important to say that queerness need not always be the conflict to justify a queer character’s presence.
.
But coming out is still a very big, important and often overwhelming experience, and in this one scene, the character wrestles with the extent to which he took it for granted. As they recount the character’s coming out story from years ago, they touch on the all too binary nature of queerness in media in decades past, the notion of queerness as intrinsic to one’s deep capacity to love, and the pain of missing out on the opportunity to share your fullest self with the people most important to you.

Huge shout out to our entire cast and crew! We’ve had an amazing festival run this year and we’re so excited to keep telling this story. Stay tuned here for more opportunities to see “For Years to Come”!
.
And Happy National Coming Out Day!! As hard as it may feel sometimes, and as ongoing as the process can be, life is better and the world is brighter when we find the courage to be unapologetically ourselves.

Arists like @jamespatricknelson , who seek to take the existing structures in media and culture and SUBVERT them in order to shine a light on the ways those very structures dehumanize us, get me SO FARKING EXCITED, PINECONES! Jamie is currently crowdfunding his newest short film, Something to Surprise Me, which aims to do just that. It tells the story of two ex-boyfriends who reunite in covid quarantine, but who decide that jumping straight to sex wouldn’t feel…right. They need to reconnect, to find their emotional intimacy again, before getting naked…so they come up with a very sexy game to make that happen. Does this sound like a project you’d like to support?! It does to me! Donate to the Seed&Spark campaign for Something to Surprise using the link in my bio and support this incredibly insightful independent artist.

James Patrick Nelson (@jamespatricknelson ) is a brilliant actor and writer with the soul of a poet and joy about him that’ll knock your socks off! In this week’s episode of @happyslutcast , Jamie and I talk about his origin story as an insecure young gay man who still managed to make his seggsual debut in a 3some, how he found new confidence in his own beauty during the pandemic, and how he’s working to create films that showcase queer intimacy in ways that celebrate but don’t fully center seggs. He’s extraordinary and this conversation was equal parts raunchy, wholesome, and fun!
Jamie is currently crowdfunding for his next short film, Something to Surprise Me, about two ex-boyfriends who reunite in covid quarantine and play a sexy game to get to know each other again. Check the link in my bio to donate and support his work!

After the snow storm yesterday, I couldn’t resist the gorgeous warm-weather vibes of photos 1, 3, and 5!
Tomorrow night, Tuesday January 27th at 7pm is your last chance to catch my queer storytelling solo play “Late Onset” at the @bk_arthaus 🤩
With all the frightening stuff going on in the world, I want to share this brief story of hope, about staring down adversity with optimism and gratitude.
Brooklyn Art Haus is a safe-haven for queer artists and audiences alike, and being a queer person in this country who’s still able to stand up and tell my story is a privilege I do not take for granted. It promises to be an evening full of queer joy! 🌈🎉
You can get your tickets at the link in my bio, or at the bar at @themouthbk when you arrive (also omg how many black box theaters in NYC have a gorgeous bar-restaurant inside!?)
Thank you again to everyone who came out last week! Tomorrow is going to be ten times as glorious!Let’s all come out of hibernation and kick up our heels and celebrate together! See you there!

In this increasingly frightening time, it feels so empowering to cultivate spaces where people can be vulnerable with each other. In a moment of heightened stigma and prejudice around queer identities, it feels so cathartic to share my personal story without apology. And in an artistic life, which is always fraught with inconsistencies, I’m so humbled to be reminded that my life always has value, and that my lived experiences can engender some of my most worthwhile art.
.
Last summer’s first workshop of “Late Onset” was an absolute joy, and one of the highlights of my year. I’m so ecstatic to be performing it again at @bk_arthaus on January 20th and 27th at 7pm. Tickets are only $20 at the link in the bio.
.
It’d mean the world to share this joyous, heartfelt, vulnerable story with all of you! Don’t miss it!
