Some records are meant to be broken. Some journeys are meant to mean something more. Come August, I’m running Hood to Coast solo. All 200 miles. From Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood to the shores of Seaside. Targeting sub-36 hours to finish in the official cut off and break an iconic record that’s stood since the 1990s. We’re calling it “The Long Way.” Moving to Oregon last fall, I witnessed firsthand how this state is fighting for civil rights during incredibly challenging times. I’ve seen communities grappling with threats to basic human dignity. But I’ve also seen how we show up for each other - mile after mile, stride after stride. That’s what this is about. Every mile of this attempt is dedicated to @basicrightsoregon , who fight every single day for equality, justice and civil rights. We’re aiming to raise $50,000+ to support their vital work. The mountains, the roads, the coast. The long hours, the longer purpose. Join me on the long way. Link in bio to donate. #TheLongWay 📸 @jamesholk

Jordan Anthony Hurt ~ 07:31:85-12:14:24 RIP my friend. I’ve been thinking a lot about you these past months. You are dearly missed and I hope we are reunited someday. Skateboarding and filming was our lives. A session with you always felt like what I imagined being pro was like, for both the skater and the photographer. It was a very dedicated, very good time. @shrediskateboarding #skateboarding

Elkhorn Crest holds a special place in our hearts, a race born in 2017 and cherished for years. It began with a tough group boarding a school bus to the ghost town of Bourne, Oregon, to tackle this rugged course. Each July, we’d return to Sumpter with our family—kids, pup, and all—for a tradition we looked forward to year after year. In 2023, we put the race on pause, but the pull to bring it back has been strong. We’re excited to announce the return of Elkhorn Crest in August 2026! Whether you’re chasing redemption, checking a bucket list item, or returning for another favorite race, we’re thrilled to invite you to join us for a slice of Elkhorn magic. Event Details: • Date: July 25, 2026 • Location: Sumpter, OR • Distances: 50M, 50K • Registration opens: January 1, 2026 We’re opening just 200 spots for this event, so when they’re gone, they’re gone! We wanted to give everyone plenty of time to plan. If you’ve never experienced it before, the camping and camaraderie the night before is a highlight you won’t want to miss! _ #elkhorncrest50 🎥 @jamesholk

Siuslaw Dunes: This one feels otherworldly, even though I’ve been visiting these dunes since before I could walk. As we approach another round on the central Oregon coast in just over two months I’m crossing my fingers it’ll be sunny and warm again, but regardless of weather it’ll definitely initiate you into the race season. @daybreakracing

Run The Rock marked the last race I photographed this year and the lighting conditions delivered. I wanted overcast skies and yet the ability to see cascade volcanoes as well, and that’s just what I was provided. It was a nice way to cap off the season. Near the beginning of my race photography this year I set out to recap each event with a collage. I did pretty well until the final two, which I have only in the past two days published. They may be late, but I’m glad I kept my goal. There is one event I never shared, however, and that was the first. Hopefully more on that tomorrow. @alpine.running @adidasterrex

The fireworks display that is Rogue Gorge: This race is situated in one of my favorite regions and climates Oregon has to offer. For two years now it’s been the perfect transition into the chilly winter season. @daybreakracing

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a race is worth a thousand stories. Some numbers to consider from the Perpetua Coast races. @daybreakracing #trailrunning #gemoftheoregoncoast #oregoncoast

Three Sisters Skyline 50k & HM This one has been a challenge to document in the locations I prefer most along the course, because the two races begin at the same location, but travel in opposite directions to start. This year, however, I took a strategic gamble on a theory to try and get it all, and while my new approach still needs refining, I’m excited by the outcome and future possibilities. Here’s to having your cake and eating it too. Albeit out of breath. 😅 @alpine.running #trailrunning #alpinerunning #threesisterswilderness

One could hardly call this a glimpse into what has become the community formed around Trail Games. Every year the party gets bigger up there. @daybreakracing #mthood #trailrunning #mthoodtrailgames #wyeast

Backcountry Rise - There are few other races that compare to this one in sheer scope. With this collage I did what I could to emphasize a bit of that sheerness. Look for the little dots … I mean the runners. @daybreakracing #trailrunning #backcountryrise #mtmargaretbackcountry #mtsainthelens
