febuary a month full of history and so much more I’m deeply grateful for all the encounters it brought. For the beautiful new souls I had the chance to meet, and for those I was blessed to see again. For my soul sister Malaika, who continues to walk her path with strength, creativity, and success. For every journey I was able to take, where the first seeds of big, new projects were planted. It truly feels like February has set down roots that will continue to grow throughout the rest of the year.

AYELE celebrates more than history! We celebrate legacy. Meet Peter, a professional loctitian based close Nairobi, Kenya, whose journey into hair is rooted in passion, culture and purpose. What started as skill became calling. What started as styling became storytelling. Locs are not just a hairstyle. They carry centuries of meaning: from ancient African civilizations where hair symbolized tribe, status and spirituality, to movements of resistance, pride and identity across the diaspora. Hair is history. And through his craft, Peter keeps that history alive, respectfully and individually fitting for each client. As AYELE, we honor the hands that preserve culture, the artists who understand that Black hair is heritage, and the stories woven into every loc. This Black History Month, we celebrate the journey, the roots and the future. #BlackHistoryMonth #HairIsHistory #AYELE #Kenya #Loctitian

“Until the lions have their own historians, the history of the hunt will always glorify the hunter.” The Theodor Wonja Michael Library is Germany’s first Black library. Founded in 2022 by Sonnenblumen e.V., the library was established to collect, preserve, and share Black knowledge, history, and perspectives that have long been marginalized or excluded. Named after Theodor Wonja Michael, Afro-German intellectual, activist, and holocaust witness, the library honors his legacy of education, remembrance, and community engagement. The library functions as an archive, a learning space, and a cultural meeting point — dedicated to making Black history visible and accessible for present and future generations. #DecolonizeKnowledge #CulturalHeritage #CommunityArchive #BlackPerspectives

november this month came over me like a huge wave full of love, laughter, tears, new beginnings without one moment of regret or doubt no words can describe this feeling of joy that rushes through my veins when I think back back to lying next to my newfound amigaa and planning our project back to marching alongside the most impressive people learning how to work in a way that leaves people smiling instead of feeling overwhelmed getting to experience one of my best friends coming home finding myself in a circle of loving and incredible women and getting to know a community that opens their doors and arms for us and while I was still struggling with language barriers I felt understood in a way I haven’t experienced in a long time.

“If you educate a man you educate an individual, but if you educate a woman you educate a nation” this proverb was shared with me and @ayele.projects during one of our interviews and the truth behind it struck me, this COP I experienced the power of women coming together, marching through the streets of Belém and raising the voices together. I am so grateful for the beautiful encounters I was having and all the knowledge, wisdom and energy that was shared with me. I will continue to stand with my people, with women, Queers, Blacks, Indigenous and all People of Color

It’s Halftime at COP30….. the past days have been intense but wonderful as well. I’ve had the honor of meeting so many strong, passionate and talented people (especially women) who have contributed a great deal to this conference even tho they may not have been invited or given the opportunity to speak on one of the panels. They did not rest, demanded and created the space to say what they have to say! It’s never been clearer to me that conferences like this will always only be as true and authentic as the people attending it. So a lot of times the real change is happening in non exclusive spaces, on the streets at cultural spaces even at home. I am grateful to be part of @ayele.projects to try keeping these spaces safe from intruders and exploitive forces. To elevate the communities protecting nature, land, ancestral knowledge and spirits. This experience is truly inspiring and I can only urge you to follow along, join the movement and support where you can ✊🏽
