Electric Giz draws in audiences with accessible grooves and contemporary sonic elements.
Their original music combines improvisation, sound design and catchy hooks in an immersive journey through genres. Seemingly simple compositions provide a foundation for the band to share their joy in spontaneous creation. They performed at the 2024 Five Points Jazz Festival and have sold out Dazzle multiple times. As an artist in residence at Dazzle in 2025 they featured special guest Randy Brecker as part of KUVO's 40th anniversary celebration.

Electric Giz is the brainchild of Greg Gisbert and Mickey Lenny, born out of their collaboration with Maria Schneider on her Grammy winning 2020 album Data Lords.ā
In just under a month, the Jaik Hakkarinen Trio will be bringing some chordless trio action to Bar 404 on June 3rd from 7-9pm, as part of their summer Wednesday night jazz series - and we would love you to join us! Jaik Hakkarinen is a drummer and educator based out of Denver, Colorado. He has performed with the likes of Randy Brecker, Greg Gisbert, Rocky Winslow, Nani Vazana, Shingo Maeyama, and the North State Symphony, and is a regular call for local and touring acts. Hakkarinen was also a 2025 artist-in-residence with Greg Gisbertās āElectric Gizā at Dazzle Denver. As an educator, Hakkarinen has worked as a clinician at California State University, Chico, is a Near-Peer Mentor with the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts, and has maintained a private lessons studio since 2020. Hakkarinen has a BA in Music from California State University, Chico, and is currently pursuing an MM in Jazz Performance and Pedagogy at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Jaik has performed for a number of Gift of Jazz sponsored performances, particularly with Electric Giz in the āNext Upā series in 2024, as well as with Nani Vazana at The Savoy in 2025.

2025 was a YEARā¦ lots of firsts (first anniversary with the most amazing person ever, first house, first show as bandleader, first time playing with some GOATs, first time making a New Years post about all the firsts that happened this year), lots of good stuff with friends and family ā¤ļø thank you to all who made it one of the best years in the books!
