Spent yesterday facilitating a module for the Indigenous Women’s Leadership Program with our women in prison for WAALI. We spoke about leadership, shame, resilience, identity and the pressure of trying to walk forward while carrying so much behind you. There were hard conversations, honest reflections, plenty of laughs, healing and a lot of truth in the room. One thing I know for sure is that our women are not defined by the worst thing that has happened in their life. Many have survived things most people could never imagine, yet still show up with courage, humour and care for others. Very grateful to WAALI for creating spaces like this and trusting me to be part of the journey šŸ¤Ž #indigenousleadership #waali #JahnaCedarConsulting

Justice is about relationships and it emerges when a community has the space, authority, and respect, to shape its own future. @jahnacedar , a Civil Society Representative in the Australian Delegation to #CSW70, shared this reflection during a BahÔ’í International Community event at the recent @unitednations Commission on the Status of Women. Last week I spent a few days working alongside Watarra Aboriginal Corporation on their strategic planning. What I appreciated most about this session was the honesty in the room. No rushing to solutions, no surface level conversations, and strategic planning done our way... yarning! We worked through priorities, but also challenged how decisions get made, who is at the table, and how culture continues to guide the direction. This is what strong governance looks like. #StrategicPlanning #AboriginalLeadership #jahnacedarconsulting

Last week I spent time with the deadly crew at @yirra_yaakin sitting in some honest strategic planning conversations about what beyond 2029 looks like. Grateful for the trust to facilitate these yarns.

What a great day to discuss business but also see family succeeding in true economic self-determination! The Hancock Iron Ore Traditional Owner & Indigenous Business Engagement Conference was one of those days that just felt right. Good conversations, real connections and a shared sense that things are shifting. Our mob are not ā€œemergingā€ā€¦ we’re building, leading and delivering strong businesses every day. And it meant a lot seeing family there too! My brother Brendy and Uncle Barry Taylor from Cundaline, Warrick Wilson from Bardbenya Resources, Aunty Joanne Taylor and Nyirdi Camis Walker from Jukawalyi Resources.. Sis @kelziii from @blaklineindustries my cuz @taylorcoffin_ from Independent Energy Systems, Jessica Wilson from Yalagan Group, Matty Hodder from Pulky, Jasmine Kadic from @benangau and Sharna Collard from Kooya Australia Fleet Solutions too. Strong people doing strong work. Grateful to be part of it. To share space. And to keep pushing for better. #IndigenousBusiness #StrongerTogether #BreakingStereotypes #JahnaCedarConsulting

We attended the #HancockIronOre Traditional Owner Forum a strong day of connection, conversation and shared direction. We heard business updates from each of the General Managers, alongside thoughtful discussions and introductions to a number of businesses through the panel sessions. The day closed out with time to connect more broadly, strengthening relationships and opening the door for future opportunities. Always important to be in spaces that centre collaboration and growth. Til next time šŸ˜Ž #HancockIronOre #TOforum #BlakLine

It was a privilege to spend time in conversation with global delegates alongside Australia’s Sex Discrimination Commissioner, Dr. Anna Cody and a team from GFoD and The Inclusivity project TIP at the United Nations this week. These discussions matter. Across the world, many women continue to experience discrimination linked to identity, culture, work and social status. Too often the lived experiences of these women remain absent from the rooms where policy and decisions are made. For me, these conversations are also about something deeper, ensuring that Indigenous voices and perspectives are part of global discussions on justice, equality and economic participation. Real progress happens when people listen, when systems are willing to learn, and when the voices of those most affected are included in shaping the solutions. Grateful to be part of these important conversations. #CSW #GenderEquality #HumanRights #IndigenousLeadership #WomenInLeadership

Excited to be speaking in New York at the UN Commission on the Status of Women this week. Our dialogue explores ā€œJustice as a Shared Endeavourā€ recognising that justice is not only about laws and policy, but about relationships, trust and community voice. From a First Nations perspective, systems of cultural governance and decision making have existed for tens of thousands of years. Justice must be shaped with the people whose lives are most affected by it! When institutions and authorities learn to work alongside these systems, stronger and more inclusive outcomes become possible Grateful to be part of this important conversation alongside inspiring global leaders. Thank you @australianbahaicommunity for hosting an important conversation #CSW70 #unwomen #ngocsw

Great session with the @fairgameaustralia staff and volunteers last weekend, exploring allyship, cultural integrity, and how we build genuine respect and understanding in community. Powerful reflections also shared by CEO Nicki Bardwell (go check out her LinkedIn page ;) ) on the impact of volunteering across Western Australia, and the impact it creates in regional and remote communities. Fair Game is a WA based health promotion charity partnering with remote and under serviced communities to support healthier, more active lives for children and families. Through culturally respectful fitness and health education programs, and by redistributing sports equipment to remove barriers to participation, they are strengthening wellbeing and connection across the state. Privilege to sit, yarn and reflect with the team! #jahnacedarconsulting #fairgame #culturalcompetency #allyship

Happy Birthday my love aka Risid šŸ˜† Today we celebrate you! You are the steady in our storm. The calm in our chaos. The backbone that holds this family strong, through prayer and protection. Proverbs 20:7 ā€œThe righteous man walks in his integrity; blessed are his children after him.ā€ You are an incredible father, present, protective, playful and principled. Yes... even with your dad jokes šŸ™„. Our children are safe because of you. I am brave because of you. This family stands strong because you stand first. We honour you. We love you. Happy Birthday Big Rig

Last week I had the privilege of being in the room with the teams from Karlka Commerce, Karlka Fencewright and Karlka Land Enterprises to discuss inclusive leadership. We explored: • What inclusive leadership really looks like in practice (and what it’s not) • The difference between diversity, inclusion and belonging • How bias and blind spots quietly shape decisions • The role of power in influencing who is heard and who carries risk • What cultural safety actually requires of us in our everyday behavioursĀ  • And importantly, what it means to be an active ally Thank you to Karlka Nyiyaparli Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC for leaning into honest conversation and committing to strengthening team culture in meaningful ways. #nyiyaparli #karlka #jahnacedarconsulting #inclusiveleadership
