As we head into 2026, we wanted to wish you a happy, healthy new year — and to share some new ( old) music.
We’re currently preparing to record our fourth full-length album with @gavinbrown , and in the process I realized I’m sitting on an archive of live, off-the-floor studio recordings that we made during the pandemic for online summer music festivals in 2021 with support from the Canada Council for the Arts and FACTOR. We’ve begun releasing that music as singles on streaming services as live versions of exsisting repertoire — the second single is now available on youtube and all streaming services.
This is a live- in studio performance of Makom Shemesh - the title track from our debut album released back in 2009, based on a beautiful Hebrew poem by @havivapedaya See link in Bio - to access on streaming and Youtube.

Today is the final day of voting for the Grammy Awards.
My dear friend and frequent music collaborator Justin Gray Sound made an incredible album ( and film) called IMMERSED that I am a huge fan of. It is an incredibly ambitious project, involving ~40 musicians.
I am honored that he asked me to pick some oud on one of the tracks called REPOSE.
It was beautiful to see my Jaffa Road band mates Sundar Viswanathan and Tamar Ilana also featured in the film and album.
Please give it a listen on your favorite platform and check out the incredible videos that Justin and Michael Fisher made.
For your consideration if you are a voting member in the Grammy's this is in the Immersive audio category.

New JAFFA ROAD Live in Studio out now
Shavateynu Kabel - שַׁוְעָתֵנוּ קַבֵּל Live in Studio
Lyrics are inspired by the final line of the famous Kabbalistic poem Ana B’Koach (2nd century):
“שַׁוְעָתֵנוּ קַבֵּל וּשְׁמַע צַעֲקָתֵנוּ יוֹדֵעַ תַּעֲלֻמוֹת “ “O knower of mysteries, hear our cries.”
During the pandemic, when the world was quiet, we had a rare opportunity to gather with the support of the CANADA COUCNIL FOR THE ARTS digital micro grant at Canterbury Music Co. and perform a short live, in-studio concert, with no audience — just us, playing together in real time, and then used in 2021 for the on line edition of several music festivals.
Over the next couple of months, we’ll be releasing these live performances as a series of audio singles across all streaming services. This is the first one in the series.
This performance features:
Tamar Ilana — vocals
Sundar Viswanathan — saxophone
Justin Gray — bass
Rakesh Tewari — drums
Aaron Lightstone — guitar
Michael Fisher – Videography
Thank you for listening and sharing this journey with us.
Shavateynu Kabel arrives on all streaming platforms TODAY
