The saying goes, “Behind every great man stands a woman.” At Bruce Ricketts’ (@brucericketts ) celebrated Manila restaurants, that woman is Jae Pickrell (@jaepickrell ), the creative and operational powerhouse who subtly drives each dining experience. From an extensive background in editorial work, Pickrell has brought her detailed eye to restaurant design. Combining her penchant for Japanese aesthetics with locally sourced Filipino craftsmanship, Pickrell infuses the zen philosophy of “wabi” into each design element of BGC’s newest sushi kappo restaurant, Iai (@iai.manila ), as she quietly finesses the dining landscape in Manila from behind the scenes. Went from always having ten million activities on the daily itinerary as a couple to only two on this day as a family! (1) Last hurrah at @sezannetokyo where Galo had his first ever taste of solids at 3 months old: Kyushu strawberries c/o uncle @chezcalvert , rated five stars!!! by the baby. And (2) despite having to schlep seventy-eight pieces of luggage, still wanted to hotel hop so we switched to the newly renovated Park Hyatt Tokyo 🇯🇵

Our bag tags said this is our Tokyo residence and may that always be true. The most baby-friendly hotel we stayed in this trip 🖤
