➡️🔵🔴🎭Collaborated with @kiiiirstin on this year’s @atlantictheater identity! With animation by @yyansong and #PaulaScher ‘s direction of course. Excited to see these out in the wild soon. From @pentagramdesign : #PaulaScher and team have designed the @atlantictheater 2021-2022 season campaign, building on their brand identity for the performing arts group. After the previous campaign (2019-2020) introduced photography to the mix, the new season features a striking graphic treatment that solarizes the images in two colors, using the Atlantic’s signature red and adding a cool purple for a hot and cold look. The promotional mailer announcing the season is a set of cards that gives each production its own mini-poster, with the distinctive Atlantic “A” symbol used as a container for the play titles. The 2021-2022 season poster combines the shape and the title character of “The Bedwetter,” the new musical based on the memoir by @sarahkatesilverman that will have its world premiere at the Atlantic, to form an exclamation point. 🚏🚌 Designed Type that became a bus shelter in Gwangju, South Korea 🇰🇷 for the @gwangjubiennale ! With #PaulaScher , @whyemma , and @jungin_you From @pentagramdesign : Founded in 1995, the @gwangjubiennale in South Korea is Asia’s oldest and most prestigious biennial of contemporary art. To commemorate its 13th edition this spring, #PaulaScher was commissioned to design a transit kiosk for a major thoroughfare in Gwangju. Built of typography, the bus shelter creates a distinctive urban landmark for the international exhibition. The design consists of two juxtaposed parallelograms joined to create a self-supporting glass structure. The wall and a roof feature “Biennale” and “Gwangju” in extruded letterforms that are locked together to hold the 8-foot-tall kiosk in place. A transparent LED screen runs the length of the shelter and displays information and images. The initial project timeline was limited and the design came together quickly before the pandemic forced organizers to postpone the Biennale twice from its September 2020 opening date. After submitting their drawings, the Pentagram team lost track of the project during lockdown and assumed it had been suspended until they saw photos of the kiosk on Instagram, designed almost exactly to their specifications. It was installed in time for the Biennale’s opening on April 1, and will remain in place as a public amenity. Check out the case study at the link in our bio! 🎭 Made some weird type and animations for this year’s Shakespeare in the Park campaign! At @pentagramdesign with @kiiiirstin and #PaulaScher, and @tamtheweapon and @grroi from @publictheaterny . Reposted from @pentagramdesign : . Welcome back, New York—the @publictheaterny is ready to make MERRY! . First peek at this year’s #ShakespeareinthePark campaign designed by #PaulaScher and team. This summer’s production is MERRY WIVES, a new adaptation of Shakespeare’s MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR by Jocelyn Bioh. The performances continue the 59-year tradition of free theater in Central Park that was interrupted for the first time ever in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. . This is our 26th season designing for Shakespeare in the Park (not counting last year’s unfinished campaign, which was eventually adapted for the Public’s 2020-2021 season identity) and the first to be seen fully in motion on the digital kiosks in the streets of NYC. Each year, the season design changes in the use and spirit of Knockout, the official typeface of the Public identity. The Merry graphics feature a playfully redrawn version of the font with occasional skinny arms and legs. . MERRY WIVES runs July 6 thru September 18 at the Delacorte in Central Park.
