More colors than I've ever seen in the sky! While my recent trip to Yellowknife was undoubtedly a cold one, it definitely didn't disappoint. This brief outburst was unlike anything I've experienced and made me (temporarily) forget that the temp was dipping below -30. These beautiful colors were captured in just a 1.3 second exposure.
This was on my first night and definitely made the longer than necessary trek worth it. After a delayed flight in Denver, I ended up running with my camera bag and backpack through the entire Calgary airport to try and catch my connecting flight.
Unfortunately, I got there just in time to watch it pull away from the gate. With no other flights until the morning, I got some rest anticipating a long night when I finally arrived. At this point, I had been waiting out on the frozen lake for a few hours without much activity. A small aurora pillar in the sky appeared and disappeared within just a few minutes. I tried to stay warm and kept waiting. Being that cold, it can be difficult to convince yourself to keep waiting it out, but I'm really thankful I did. A pretty amazing moment to have after a bit of travel related stress.

Cosmic Kona! I have to admit, this is probably going to be my personal favorite comet photo : ) During all my time scouting locations to take photos of Comet NEOWISE, I've been waiting to find the right place where Kona and I could get a photo together. When the opportunity finally came, Kona was ready and excited to go, even if it meant a 2AM alarm. After a bunch of planning and waiting for the right opportunity, I was so happy to be able to pull this shot off. This location had a bit more light pollution on the horizon than I anticipated, but I was able to place Kona and I in that area to help us stand out against the sky. I'm honestly so excited to add this to the list of photos Kona and I have been able to take together under the stars. He's got quite the portfolio of starry sky selfies : ) If you're new here, I'll share some of the older ones in my stories!
For those of us living further South, NEOWISE is slowly becoming visible after sunset. Another day or two and forward, will lead to better opportunities to see and photograph at night. If you're living in the mid to Northern latitudes, it's very likely you already have a great view at sunset. If you're living in Northern latitudes (47th parallel and above) and the comet won't dip below the horizon at night! I've updated my blog post with info to help you spot and photograph the comet at sunset. If you sent a question or comment that I haven't gotten back to, please feel free to send it again. I've been trying my best to keep up with all of them and want to make sure I can help people check out the comet however I can!

Sea caves and glowing waves. One of my favorite places along the coast to spend time listening to the waves and staring up at stars.

A few images from the dark skies of the Pfeiffer Beach in Big Sur. It's hard to think of too many places more beautiful along the coast.

Today is the official start of International Dark Sky Week! Hoping clear skies and plans to spend some time out under the stars are in the works for you!
Let me know if you have plans to stargaze anywhere. I'll be out at the Trona Pinnacles in California later this week!

One of the first places I ever looked up at the Milky Way. My first here was during the month of Feb, so while the core wasn't visible, seeing the Winter Milky Way stretch from horizon to horizon was mesmerizing.
Hope to make it back here again this year!

While it wasn't the easiest place to find accessible locations at night, these skies were incredible. For a place that was pretty busy during the day, it was so quiet and peaceful at night.
Anyone else looking forward to the upcoming New Moon and spending some time under the stars?

I've been pretty fortunate to be able to work so many of the things I love into my photography over the last few years. Whether it's family, friends, coffee or Real Madrid, for me, it's just a way to enjoy and share what I do even more. It's not always easy to naturally incorporate something under the night sky, but it's always fun to try.
A few years ago, I brought a @marcelotwelve jersey with me to Iceland. After everything was shot for the project, I quickly changed and grabbed a few photos as the Northern lights kept dancing in the sky. Fast forward to just about two weeks ago and I was able to photograph a press conference for the first Real Madrid Leyendas vs Barcelona Legends match in the United States. It was pretty surreal to sit in the room with such icons, with Marcelo being one. Alongside him was Real Madrid legend, Figo, Barcelona legends @ronaldinho & @rafamarquez.a , and the founders from @wearehouseofheroes , @alkis_emenides@davidfa__
I shared some of these in my story, but really wanted to share a bit more here. Hope you enjoy them! HALA MADRID!
