Hey everyone! Pull in to @jackblackstaproom for an epic night of surf stories, heckling, gear, prizes, surprises, burgers, flowing @jackblackbeer and a special auction of this beautiful twin-fin surfboard, shaped and illustrated by designer, shaper and artist Dan Riding (@themagictree_tmt ) and hosted by @nikrabinowitz . Special guests include legendary big wave riders @franksolomon @mikeschlebach @mattbromleysurf @gerglong and a host of personalities and folks from the surfing, conservation and scientific community. The surfboard idea was germinated at the @surfexpoafrica event by PTWC team member Jacque Smit (@saltwaterjac ). Dan ran with his idea to portray the raw beauty and rich biodiversity of the West Coast. The twin-fin is an iconic board shape, and as a canvas, pays homage to a coastline of contrasts, from the powerful Atlantic ocean to delicate detail. Central to the design is a windmill representing resilience and a timeless quality, surrounded by the roaring ocean and endemic fauna and flora. Dan said: “I have found it amazing to combine all these aspects for this project, using one of my old boards as a canvas to depict the unique West Coast.” Bring mates, and your cheque book to raise funds. 100% of the proceeds go to @protectthewestcoast and @sentineloceanalliance . The Drakensberg doesn’t reveal itself all at once. It draws you in slowly - ridge by ridge. Step by step. Long climbs that ask questions. Descents that don’t let you switch off. Traverses that carry you across open ground where the horizon feels just out of reach. Water moving through rock. Wind shifting across the escarpment. A landscape that feels constant, yet never quite the same. Over race weekend you met it on its terms. Every runner who crossed a line - whether early or deep into the night - brought something of themselves to these mountains. Every volunteer who held a space, filled a cup, offered a word at the right moment. You kept it all moving. Every spectator who showed up, who waited, who lifted the energy when it mattered. She looked strong from the get-go, pulling away to secure victory with over 30 minutes on Lindy Acutt in 2nd, and Lindi Meyer rounding out the podium in 3rd. Well done on a spectacular race, ladies! YOUR RMB UTD SDR FEMALE WINNER 🥇@megmackenzie1 FINISH TIME: 03:18:44, Meg led from the gun, controlled, composed, completely in command. She set the tone early and never let it go. Stopping the clock at 03:18:44, this was a statement return. A year away from racing, back on home soil in KZN, and she made every second count. A crowd favourite through and through. YOUR RMB UTD SDR MALE WINNER 🥇 @jac_dup FINISH TIME: 02:53:18 Another RMB UTD podium and this one stamped with authority. He made his move early, taking control of the race just after the first aid station and never looking back. From there, it was measured, confident running across a course that demanded a different kind of effort this year. Crossing the line nearly 10 minutes clear of second place, it was a performance built on timing, strength and control.
