And what a weekend it was. First 70.3 ✅ OA win ✅ Sub 4 ✅ A whole lot of soreness ✅ More on this soon. Still letting the dust settle. Many thanks to friends, family, and support. @working.triathlete is on the rise. To be clear, the whole race was done between zones 1 and 2. #ZeroPersonalityAllPerformance @ironmantri @ironmanamericas #triathlon #ironman #ironmantri #tri #triathlete #dothework

Here’s my recovery session from yesterday! All these comments saying i’m doing fake workouts… My feelings are so hurt. It’s ridiculous that the community would deny all my hard work and dedication just to make themselves feel better. Stress fracture update: Getting better. Stop hating 🛑 #tri #triathlon #running #run #runner #multisport #endurancetraining #marathon #distancerunning #swim #bike

Fun St. Anthony’s trip! What an awesome race and venue @stanthonystriathlon . Best pro treatment I’ve had, excited to come back. P11 and a few spots out of the pay day. Really enjoying non-draft and stoked to finally get to RACE a bike ride. Sick event. Big travel week ahead as I relocate to MI for the summer (and @annika.lampen graduates!). Big shouts to @jeremymaclean_ for the carpool and taking on the event together. WBU 📸: @athletes.lgmphotos

Zipper Drill, as we call it, emphasizes a lot of pieces of your stroke: 1. Dragging your thumb along your body from your hip up to your shoulder forces a high elbow recovery. 2. The elbow position and thumb drag further emphasizes a solid rotation in each stroke. 3. Keeping the body in a straight line (You could argue too straight) which is especially useful for newer swimmers with a disconnected upper/lower body. Which drill should we highlight next week? #usatriathlon #dothework #ironmantri #triathlete #multisport

Conti cup Gulfport in the books and an awesome weekend at Collegiate Nationals. Made some serious progress in the water this time, and was at the back end of the swim breakaway until losing the feet about 300m from the finish and going backwards until the end of the swim. Still put me in 17th out of the water, my best swim yet. Rode in the first chase until second chase group caught us at the end of the first lap. Off the bike and onto a solid first 1km before a side stitch took hold of me and I struggled to work it out, fading back further. P32 at the end, same as my start number. Short course has taught me a lot over this past year. I’m excited to continue learning in the @auxocollective environment even as I switch gears to a bit more non-draft racing. @stanthonystriathlon is up next in 4 weeks! Also had the privilege to coach @purduetriathlon this past year and at nationals. I loved being a part of their success this year and am grateful for that opportunity as we go separate ways this coming year, in the hopes that they will land an in person coach! Always happy to be surrounded by @msutri as well and it was impressive watching them deal with adversity in stride. In the women’s Olympic, my favorite coaching moment to date was watching my girlfriend and athlete @annika.lampen battle for 3rd with one of my Purdue athletes @emma.squires10 . Both of them put in loads of work this year and watching it pay off in a tight battle was awesome. 📸: @thorsonslens and other msu photographers!

Just a few days until the next one - First conti cup of the year in Gulfport, MS. Excited to switch gears from the 70.3 a few weeks ago and my body has come around smoothly post race. Ready to see what I can do out there, and very grateful to be able to do it on American soil (even though we should absolutely have more than one world triathlon race per year in the States). The rest of the weekend will consist of coaching @purduetriathlon at collegiate nationals (same venue), hanging with @annika.lampen and @msutri , and cheering on many friends. Race first - All focus on the present. Enjoy every little moment. Flow. @auxocollective @usatriathlon

Middle distance pro debut at 70.3 Dallas - Little Elm. Shortened swim and time trial start changed the circumstances for all and I found myself starting at the end of the line of athletes. A very brief ~300m swim was a shame but at least we got in the water. Bike ride was hard. 20+mph wind with big gusts, and a 20m draft zone means a far more individual bike effort - Other athletes are useful as pacers but without much draft benefit, so it’s a really honest ride. I can appreciate that, and can appreciate how strong the level of riding is as well. Well done to the front guys. Run was fun - Felt strong and stable for about 18km, and suffered through the last 3km. Was able to hold on to the pace fairly well, and finished 29/61. Not much to say about the result, as the time trial start meant a very intrinsically motivated run. No information on who I was catching, by how much I was behind, etc.. 1:16 on the day and happy with the direction that discipline is going. Back to NC, America’s Cup Gulfport soon (and nationals for @purduetriathlon ) 📸: @athletes.lgmphotos

Race week again! Had lots to consider this off season, and still have a fairly uncertain next year ahead of me as far as direction and my relationship with triathlon. Found myself struggling to enjoy racing towards the end of last year, something I’ve never experienced in any sport. Was able to kick things off in Clermont last weekend, where I had a solid first 15 minutes of the race before crashing at the end of the first lap. Was able to get back up and finish, but decided to forego day 2 and focus on this coming weekend - My first pro 70.3. Despite a difficult weekend in Florida, I showed myself that even when things don’t go well, I DO love racing. I was having fun out there even post crash, and I needed to show myself that that was possible to reinforce my resolve and get the hunger back. From now and to the end of my career, I do sport because I love it. I need no other reason, pressure, or motivation. Let’s get out there and race a half Ironman! Track me on the Ironman app, 70.3 Dallas-Little Elm, this Sunday March 15. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 📸: @thenordicaphotography #tri #triathlon #ironman #ironmantri #triathlete

Started working for @working.triathlete . Got some talented athletes that I’m excited to work with. 5k PR last week (15:49) and moving the needle slowly in the right direction. Next race in Clermont. After that… see you in Dallas for @ironmantri 70.3 Dallas-Little Elm. Return of the TT bike 👀 📸: @tzaferes
