Our final senior is Annika Lampen, graduating with degrees in Human Biology and Spanish! Her favorite MSU Tri memory is all the post-swim cafeteria visits.
Annikaâs favorite leg of the triathlon is the bike. Outside of triathlon, she enjoys cooking and eating good food, as well as riding her gravel bike.
What sheâll miss most is the people and being part of such a great team.
Her advice for current and future members: âMake the most of it and have fun! Enjoy all of the opportunities tri club has to offer, from social events to group training sessions.â

Our next senior is Michelle Gallegos-Gallegos, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)! Her favorite MSU Tri memory was going to Nationals in Florida and staying in a house full of peacocks. She loved getting to know everyone on the team better during the trip.
Michelleâs favorite leg of the triathlon is the run. Outside of triathlon, she enjoys scrapbooking, birdwatching, and spending time with her fiancĂŠ.
What sheâll miss most is being surrounded by such a talented and motivating group of athletes, along with all the swim practices.
Her advice for current and future members: âTry to go to as many practices as you can. Everything is a lot more fun when youâre training with your friends.â
After graduation, Michelle plans to work in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Trinity Health Ann Arbor while preparing for graduate school in anesthesia. Sheâs also getting married this summer!
Our next senior is Madi Cooper, graduating with a degree in Communicative Sciences and Disorders! Her favorite MSU Tri memory is attending her first triathlon tailgate freshman year, where she really got to know the team and make close friends. Sheâs also loved traveling to Nationals each year and exploring new places with the team. Her favorite leg of the triathlon is the bike on race day, but she enjoys training for the run the most.
Madiâs favorite team tradition is Cider Ride. Which is a 60-mile group ride for donuts!
After graduation, Madi will be attending graduate school at Wayne State University to become a pediatric speech-language pathologist.
Her advice for current and future members: âYou get out of this team what you put into it. The more you train and show up to practices and events, the more youâll grow, and the more friendships youâll build. This team is so special. Some of my best college memories and closest friendships came from being involved and spending time with the team.â
Our next senior is Jane Thomas, graduating with a degree in nursing! Her favorite MSU Tri memories are the teamâs cider rides.
Janeâs favorite leg of the triathlon is the swim. Outside of triathlon, she enjoys spending time with family and friends.
What sheâll miss most is having the best and most supportive training group.
Her advice for current and future members: âYou can be in a demanding program, work, and still get so much out of this team!â
After graduation, Jane will be working as a nurse in the Medical ICU.
Our next senior is Bryce Wert, graduating with a degree in Human Biology! His favorite MSU Tri memory is the Peacock House shenanigans.
Bryceâs favorite leg of the triathlon is the bike. Outside of triathlon, he says his main hobby is eating lots of food.
What heâll miss most is team dinners and all the social events.
His advice for current and future members: âGet involved as much as you can and donât be afraid to try something new.â
After graduation, Bryce will be attending dental school at the University of Michigan.
Our next senior is Ashton Holland, graduating with a degree in finance! His favorite MSU Tri memory is his first Nationals in Miami, racing in the speedway and staying in the Peacock House with the team.
Ashtonâs favorite leg of the triathlon is the run. Outside of triathlon, he enjoys ultras, spending time with friends and family, and traveling.
What heâll miss most is the weekly swim practices with the team and going to Nationals each year.
His advice for current and future members: âJust do it! Best decision I ever made and the most fun.â
After graduation, Ashton will be heading to basic training and AIT with the National Guard.
Our next senior is Natalie Thorson! Sheâs graduating with a degree in neuroscience and a minor in philosophy of law. Her favorite MSU Tri memory is Tri Formal, and her favorite leg is the run.
Outside of triathlon, Natalie enjoys playing guitar, golfing, and waterskiing. After graduation, sheâll miss living close to her friends and being able to run with them whenever.
Her advice: join ASAP! She didnât join until senior year and wishes she had more time on the team. And donât worry if youâre new to triathlonâyouâll learn as you go with the teamâs support.
After graduation, Natalie plans to start applying to law school.
Our first senior is Annie Suranyi, graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering! Her favorite MSU Tri memory is from Nationals this past year: watching the draft-legal race surrounded by a sea of togas. Her favorite leg of the triathlon is biking.
Annieâs favorite team tradition is the pre-Nationals brunch at Coachâs house each spring. She loves it because itâs when the excitement for Nationals really starts, and the team grows closer together.
Her advice for current and future members: âCome to as many events and practices as possible. Everyone is busy during college, but all of my favorite memories came from the time I spent with my teamđŤśđź.â
MSU Triathlon was fortunate to compete with two Mixed Team Relay teams, supported by an incredible toga themed cheering squad. MTR A placed 14th and MTR B placed 32nd, both out of 62 teams.
Nationals 2026 highlights! Every MSU triathlete showed up and pushed through a tough course. A jellyfish-filled and wavy ocean swim, a long T1, and brutal winds (up to 30 mph) on the bike and run.
All the hard work and determination paid off, earning MSU 11th place overall out of 85 teams. The womenâs team placed 7th, and the menâs team took 19th.
So proud of this team and everything we accomplished. Go Green, Go White!
