It’s moments like these that transform steps into story🌊
@jac_long is captured working with dancers Madeline and Kyle on the pas de deux between Water and Earth tor Moving Forces. Both powertul torces, the two elements learn to depend on one another creating a symbiotic relationship. Jacquelyn plays with fluidity and grounded movement quality along with focus and intention- creating a deeply moving dance of two.
Moving Forces was created and filmed in January during the NYC Creative Residency which brought dancers, musicians, composer, choreographer, and costume designer all together in one vibrant space.
The residency culminated in a filming which is set to premiere at the San Diego Museum of Art this summer in conjunction with a digital release, offering a deeper look into this musical and choreographic masterpiece to our community. Moving Forces will then take the stage June 14th with live music by the original musicians Josh and Julia- reaching its fullest form.
This incredible collaborative work is a true highlight of our season, we can’t wait to share it.

Sylvia is a role I cherish performing, and today was no different. When the curtain came down I was feeling all the emotions 🥹. From debuting it four years ago to now, it has felt like a measure of time and growth. Melting strength with vulnerability, humor with love, qualities I always work on in my dancing and in my life.
Returning to this ballet with Harper was so special. I am so grateful to have a partnership like we do, with trust, diligence, enjoyment, and hilarity. The first time we danced together, as teenagers, he said “you can lean on me,” I didn’t realize I still would be years later. 🥹 Thank you for making it about togetherness, and reining me in. I’m so proud to share the stage with you. ❤️💪🏼🗡️
This run of the ballet has felt different from my debut because in those four years I have gotten married to my love Saul. A new Greek last name and all! It felt special to pull from my wedding day, our love, and imagine life with my husband years from now.
My mom and Ms. Janina (my og ballet teachers) always say “You get to dance today.” I try to bring that enjoyment and positivity in to my work as much as possible. If you know me you know I’m pretty sentimental and I’m feeling particularly thankful for @houstonballet and to dance today. ❤️🥰🥹

Last week I created a 15 minute piece in 5 days for @pointe_works . It was amazing to work with the talented composer @katieejenks and big thanks to Director @sophiewilliams742 for making this possible. I also got to see some of my favorite people, and witnessed some epic productions. Grateful for this time and feeling inspired 💛🌇
