Visiting the studio of artist @jonathanfreemantle to witness the latest carvings live. These somewhat brutal scores expose the rings, grains and pores of the storm-damaged juniper trees we’re repurposing.
There is a softening to come - both from Jonathan’s further treatments of the scarred wood, and also by how these constructs finally become interior pieces via @ja_coco_
Aside: Being in the shadow of the sculptor when they work as instinctively as this is the perfect antidote to the limitations of digital creative processes.
