15 years in green and just like that, we lay it down. I never thought the end would weigh this heavy.
It feels like closing a chapter written in sweat, salt, and shouted commands. A chapter that shaped the bones of who I am. There are no more nights crammed into the same bunk,
no more nonsense conversations that somehow turned into life updates, no more annual reunions where we measured time not in years,but in who we had become since the last “fall in.” Charging up the Guards Tower before a rappel. Two kilometres of sea swallowing our breath. Fast marches under a punishing sky. A 100kg log biting into our shoulders. The Guardsman walk. Step for step, no man left behind. Maybe what aches is not just the ending, but the rarity of being known so specifically. To have people who understand these stories not as listeners but as co-authors. We are very different men now. Different lives. Different responsibilities. Different callings.
Yet we share something carved in a language only we speak. When we said, for the last time, “Ready To Strike!”it echoed a little longer. Because somewhere in that call
was the quiet understanding that this might be the last time we stand in formation together. I’m reminded of that rooftop scene in Stranger Things, smiling, promising to meet again every month, while adulthood waits patiently in the background, ready to scatter everyone to different corners of the world. Hopeful. Nostalgic. And quietly aware. 

Thank you for having my back.
For showing me what brotherhood truly means.
For becoming the best versions of ourselves when circumstances demanded it most. I still remember slamming the table the day I got posted to Guards. Never would I have thought I would be shedding tears of sadness when it ends. But here we are. Grateful.
