I'm on this panel with @alicelowespaceoddity and @gralefrit at the Exeter Comedy Festival on 5 June but also the whole festival looks brilliant and you should go. (Crappy cropping my own).
After much deliberation, we’re excited to announce another winner of the first 2026 round of our Kino Short Film Fund: HOW TO DO A KIDNAP from writer/director @izzymant & producers @tora.young and Theresa Larché! The film will be shot by @gregduffield_dop , cast by @rosalieclaytoncasting , and edited by @andyeditstv .
We’re excited to welcome this comedy thriller to our Kino Original slate, providing the complementary camera and lens package courtesy of @theunitbag with Kino’s CEO @dcmfilmmaker joining the project as an Executive Producer.
We’re back on Sunday 8 Feb for a fun afternoon (who doesn’t love a gig starting at 4pm?) with brilliant comedians Izzy Mant, Leslie Ewing-Burgesse and Alwin Solanky. The only thing we know to expect from this lot is the unexpected!

My 2025 year review, edited for public consumption...
Had a birthday, went on some home swap holidays, launched my script consultancy business and did less writing than I'd like.
In 2026 I plan to direct my short film, write, script edit, hang out with great chums, devote time to saving democracy, and learn the Mel C part to When You're Gone.
I loved hosting this Q&A at @asffestival last month with Oscar-winning screenwriter Peter Straughan. York Theatre Royal was packed with future Oscar-winning screenwriters (judging by their excellent questions)
Preview of Katherine Bigelow's gripping nuclear what-if thriller House of Dynamite. Q&A with Bigelow, Rebecca Ferguson and an entertaining Tracy Letts, whose fascinating play I then saw at press night two days later - Mary Paige Marlowe at the Old Vic, with Andrea Riseborough and Susan Sarandon.
Delighted to say a month from now I'll be interviewing my friend and screenwriting mentor Peter Straughan at ASFF (Aesthetica Short Film Festival). Looking forward to a detailed discussion about screenwriting: the joys, the struggles, and how to win a Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar. There's loads of other great stuff in the festival too if you fancy a trip to York.
