We haven’t been back in the Singapore/Malay peninsula for awhile now thanks to absurd cost of living and flights, but am missng and thinking of family back there on the other side of the world.
At the forefront of liberation, it’s been an incredible privilege to work with the National Black Theatre family again, especially with these generous souls, brilliant hearts and minds. Now showcasing at La MaMa Theater!

I’m so incredibly excited for my first Rodgers/Hammerstein! Its been such an artistically healing process for me perhaps because of the nostalgia having grown up with these songs, and perhaps because of the triumph of the light from the children against racist hatred.
After a brief delay, the stage is finally set. A story that takes place in historic Palestine through the 40s and 70s, this play deftly takes us through time and history with a keen lens of truth. A rare must watch. Playing at La MaMa now!
Designing one show and jumping into another, this show is a court drama about the scopes trial in 1925, where a teacher was put on trial for teaching evolution, reminded me how genuinely fearful I’ve become about the lack of academic freedom. We are all created equal, but some are more equal than others in 2024.
Step Two - Texturize! That’s an actual word apparently, though it sounds so made up for some reason, like power rangers would say it when you know… its…morphin time. Not a fan of power rangers or anything. Seriously no.
A show coming soon set in Palestine which I get to dedicate for Palestinians. 🇵🇸 May Allah protect you, give you strength, Sabr to those still hanging on, Jannah to those returned, unveil hearts so more can see the truth, and forgive them who know not what they do, eternal peace and justice for those who seek them
