We opened buying up as a community building effort. We want to give our community the opportunity to sell their used items and make a little extra cash. We do have limitations 1. Storage, we can’t store ALL the plus size clothes in Oregon. 2. Budget, we can only spend so much. If it’s slow at the shop buying will be less or could even get cancelled. 3. Staffing, we can only buy on days there are two people working. Please be respectful of our limitations. If you feel unjustly harmed by our boundaries please look inward. Please for the love of all that is holy DO NOT come at our staff about how we HAVE to buy your items, we don’t. I hate putting on my mom voice but here we are. I love our community and I know we are all fragile given the state of everything but the most rebellious thing we can do is to be good to one another and build community.

Today is our actual birthday!! Three years ago today we opened the doors to such an amazing adventure! I love my job, my team, my community and our mission. If you would have talked to me three years and a month ago I would have told you I was gonna be at my corporate gig until I died. I had great coworkers, good pay and stability with it. When the old owners called me and offered me their space I knew I couldn’t pass this up. I gave up my security to chase a dream I didn’t know I had. The last three years of this have been a wild ride but the best ride ever! Getting to know you all and be in community together is such a gift. Just finished getting the store prepped for our big anniversary sale weekend. We have racks bursting with $5 and $10 items, goodie bags with treasures and coupons for the first 75 people each day. We are standing with the May Day (5/1/26) protests. With that being said we can close where there are so many others who cannot! The weight of these economic protests tends to fall on the shoulders of small businesses and that is not the point. Where I think you should align with the strike and the overall messaging I think the bigger point is to spend with your money in your community at places that don’t line the pockets of the billionaires. I know there are so many shops, restaurants, artists… that we love and want to see thrive that will be open and hoping for sales on Friday. Go buy a treat from that bakery you love, buy a gift from the shop you’d miss if it were gone, have dinner with people you love and talk about intentional spending at your favorite restaurant. You can protest and I’m so glad that we can too but I know I will be showing my love to the businesses I know who can’t! Top of mind is our sister shop down the street @midtownersmarket , they have a great plus size section and Megan who runs it will talk anti capitalism all day with you if given the chance.
