Speaking to white people here. This knowledge forces me to hold myself accountable, not only for speaking up when there is injustice, but also for educating myself about the ways in which systemic racism continues to oppress marginalized communities. Coming from a position of privilege I confess to having enormous ignorance. This makes me feel uncomfortable, especially at times like this, but the solution is not to stay quiet. It’s time to educate ourselves, to help fight as allies for justice against an oppressive system that future generations will look back at in horror and disbelief.
