MY NAME IS MFON-ABASI!! The last week broke me in places I didn’t know could crack…
What kept me going was repeating my name to myself:
“My name is Mfon-Abasi.” In Ibibio it means “God’s Grace” or “God’s Favor.”
I have this habit: each time I find myself in a very dark place, I say this:
“My name is Mfon-Abasi. I am the embodiment of God’s Grace, and God’s Grace will pull me through this.”
And I trust God to never fail.
Some time ago, I reflected on my life and realized that is not just a name.
My name is my testimony.
My name is not a coincidence. My pain is not the end of my plot. My story? It’s still unfolding.
And grace?
Grace will always be enough.

UKPAHIU IS COMING TO GLASGOW!!!
Back in March I travelled to Liverpool to watch this play by Valentine Onogu (@westernigalaboy ) for the Unity UpNext Festival, and my immediate thought was: “Glasgow has to see this.” Now it will.
I am thrilled to announce I will be co-producing UKPAHIU here in Glasgow, with the same cast and crew, as part of The Welcome Network lineup at The Social Hub Glasgow (@thesocialhub.glasgow ) on May 23rd, 2026.
Ukpahiu, meaning strength in Igala, is a gripping stage play about mental health, silence, and misinterpretation. It follows a man whose unspoken struggles lead to misunderstanding, trauma, and stigma, and traces the courage it takes to face inner battles and reclaim true strength.

The Welcome Network is an initiative of The Changemakers Scholars of the TSH Foundation, Glasgow.

The Welcome Network is a one-day community experience at The Social Hub, Glasgow on Saturday May 23rd, designed for anyone navigating the loneliness, uncertainty, and identity shifts of starting over in a new country and will feature a mix of keynote speakers, honest panel conversations, yoga, and career workshops.
