The future of Filmmaking is here. And while it holds scary prospects, it is note worthy to remember that AI is just another tool. Another medium.
It doesn’t have to replace traditional filmmaking. It can just offer an alternative. Especially with the cost of production of films going out of hand and the economics of investments and returns in the industry being uncertain.

Last week has been really something special for me. I finally got to share a passion project of mine with the world. Àjákà Lórí Òkun started as an experiment to visualize a film I’d really love to do in the next couple of years. I worked on it revisiting frame after frame single February and tried my hands on every new update I could experiment with. And these were all done in my spare time at midnight and between film jobs at @takeoneproductionsconcept and film editorial works at @thepostofficeng
.
These frames include concept arts generated for some character and a few unused shots. I still have at least 100 more of those. But I’m putting this out there for those who might want to invalidate the humanity in some AI generated films. Currently, a vast majority of ai films can still be regarded as ai slop. But this is what can happen when actual filmmakers get their hands on these tools, instead of leaving it to non filmmakers.

Currently, we do not know for sure where these is all heading but all I can say is that just like animation, this is also another medium for storytellers and filmmakers to make art. We don’t have to over rely on ai to do the story telling for us. Take charge of your storytelling process, take charge of your frames, edit the story the way you intend and the way you see it in your imagination. AI works don’t have to be “garbage in garbage out”.
