Superposition is a bold contemporary dance performance where movement meets machine. Caught in a magnetic push-and-pull, two performers spiral between connection and conflict — part duel, part duet.
Informed by principles of quantum mechanics and set against a continually evolving soundscape, Superposition blurs the line between science and art, exploring what happens when human instinct collides with intelligent systems.

Nominated for 2024 Green Room Awards for Outstanding Choreography, and nominations for 2024 Melbourne Fringe Festival Awards for Best Emerging Artist, and Best Dance and Physical Theatre.
This presentation of Superposition is supported by Canberra Theatre Centre’s NEW WORKS program. The latest development of Superposition has been funded by ArtsACT, with residency at Canberra Theatre Centre and Canberra Dance Theatre.

We are excited to host @itsgabrell and @jazacarter as they explore the choreographic systems, languages, and methodologies they have created for their new dance work Superposition.
This Lab is open to two participatory roles; dancers and algorithm artists. Bring pen and paper!
Dancers will learn an excerpt from the work, develop your own ruleset and patterns collaboratively, and explore dance-led evolving soundscapes.
If you are interested in participating with patterns, algorithms, and logic trees, you are welcome to join the Lab as an algorithm artist!
We also invite you to attend the studio showing of Superposition before the Immerse Lab from 1-2:15. This is optional, but recommended.

Welcome to “the most Leo thing (I’ve) ever done.” This was my favourite song of being 22, and this cover was months in the making. I’m happy to finally share it with you. And yes, surprise, I’m a bit of a muso.
Thanks to Sarah for all the help with this one. More to come.
