memories from japan 🇯🇵 All my favourite moments, experiences, and everything we collected & bought along the way, pieced together into one chaotic collage. A mix of exploring cities, temples & shrines, disney & universal, way too much nintendo, gachapon, and everything in between… The best honeymoon and adventure with @xiamlaurenx ❤️

🇯🇵 Tokyo → Kyoto → Nara → Osaka The out of office is getting turned off tomorrow after the best 3 weeks in Japan (sorry for all the spam!) I’m never happier than exploring a new city with a camera. Walking through streets, finding shops, temples, arcades, little corners you’d never notice otherwise… just taking it all in. Japan was perfect for that. We had a plan to see all the big things, but a lot of the best moments were still just wandering between them and noticing the smaller stuff along the way. Most of the time I wasn’t really trying to capture the perfect photo, more like documenting memories as we went, little moments, streets we walked down, places that caught my eye. Sometimes video, sometimes photos, sometimes both. One thing I kept noticing everywhere though: you arrive somewhere incredible and everyone is photographing the exact same view. The same temple gate, the same street, the same shot of Mt Fuji. Most of the photos probably won’t be better than the ones already all over Instagram. But everyone still takes them anyway. It’s easy to be cynical and think people are just chasing the same photo to post online. But the more I watched people doing it, the more it felt like people were just collecting memories from a good day. The camera roll is basically the modern travel journal. Sure, some people go big with poses or recreate things they’ve seen online. But then I think… what’s really the difference between that and me standing there with a bigger camera chasing nice light, high resolution, a bit of lens flare and some bokeh? For someone else it might be a pose or a dance in front of the view. For me it’s the light and the lens. Maybe there isn’t a right way to capture a moment. Maybe the point is just remembering you were there. Shot mostly on the FX3 and my little Fuji. 🇯🇵

Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Osaka 🍄⭐️ Still can’t believe how fun this was, super immersive and the rides were amazing. Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge is easily one of the best rides I’ve ever been on. Spent the day buying way too much merch and blind boxes, and exploring the rest of the park. They even still have JAWS, which is such an OG ride that you don’t see in many Universal parks anymore. 🎢🦈

Nara Deer Park! One of my favourite places on the Japan trip so far. Wandering around the park and temples, feeding the deer who politely bow for a cracker! 🦌

What’s new at @yspsculpture ? A few hours wandering around to walk off the cheese and carbs. As always there’s a mix of new exhibitions and works across the park so it was well worth the visit. A few new bits I was especially excited to see: 1️⃣ @jordykerwick — a full gallery of fantastical creatures 2️⃣ @damienhirst — The Martyr (Saint Bartholomew) looking unreal in the glass house 3️⃣ @williamkentridgestudio — The Pull of Gravity. The outdoor ampersand is incredible and there’s loads more to take in inside too Always one of my favourite days out and I’m so lucky to live close by.

My fave family tradition we have: the Christmas craft. It started with best Christmas jumpers, slippers, hats, decorations and over 10 years later we’re on portraits (and it got weird/cute). So much fun this time, we didn’t even have a winner. 🏆
