ACDA 26’ ✨~ Contagious Rhythm ~ My first and last time being able to present work at ACDA and I am beyond blessed to have had the ability to do so. This year, we presented in the first concert of the conference, and was chosen to partake in the encore performance today. It was by God’s grace and His grace only that we were able to make it to this far and I am eternally grateful to have had my last year in undergraduate lead to this. 🙏🏾❤️ Met so many new people and have gained many connections that I wish will last a lifetime 🫶🏾 To my dancers, I love you all so much. Thank you for trusting me alongside the this journey. We started back in September all for a composition class and look at how far we’ve come. These are the people I’ve started college with and will be ending college with. A true blessing to say the least. My forever people, my forever family. Thank you for making this process the best choreographic process I’ve ever had. I will truly never forget this. To my professor and the one we owe the thanks to getting to ACDA in the first place, @theemerrittbrown , thank you for pushing us to get to the point of preparation for this process and giving your insight and advice, making this process smoother than ever in the end. We deeply appreciate you for all of the endless support! ✨ And to my professor, my mentor @jade_charon who’s work Recharge also was presented and was chosen for encore, I want to say thank you for being there with me every step of the way. For constantly checking in on us, for giving us advice, and just for being a smiling face to brighten up our long days. You deserve all of your recognition and I am so glad that we were able to go through this journey together!! ⭐️ And to @mauranguyendonohue & @huntercollegedance , thank you for choosing and trusting me to represent you all for this year’s conference, your faith in me gave us the confidence to push forward and do our best! My first @layerhythm experience, and definitely not my last. At first, I felt the nerves, but the moment I stepped into the cypher, it was nothing but freedom. The kind of freedom I’ve always dreamed of finding in my movement. This is the beginning of a fresh chapter in my journey as an artist. ✨ For a long time, I struggled with self-doubt, comparing myself to others and letting roadblocks hold me back. But over the past two years, with the love and support of my beautiful dance family, I’ve grown into my voice as a dancer. I’ve come to realize that I am not defined by one form, but by many. My movement carries pieces of my roots, the influences of what shaped me growing up, and the sparks of the inspirations I hold today. Through this, I’ve found not just my foundation, but my true “why” for dancing.
