4 scarves, 3 snoods and 14 meters later, this networked twill in @knollyarns merino is finally of the loom! Draft adapted from Janna Weaves with new lift plans by me. Produced at the @pickoneweave studios in sunny Leith

Down to the last 90cm of 1400… hope to squeeze in one last snood in the first color I had gone to when planning but the last to actually use: the lovely heathered ‘redwood’. A few more hours until four scarves and three snoods come off the loom… finally! @pickoneweave @knollyarns @louet_worldwide

@knollyarns Spearmint is giving Easter vibes back in the @pickoneweave studio. Snow in Scotland but spring is here. Loch Voil getaway with this girl.

And next up - @knollyarns hyacinth merino woven using a modified tie-up for the networked twill. As many have remarked, this is a very ‘rich’ color pairing. 1300 pick down, 400 more to go.

HELP PLEASE - does anyone know where this was or when it closed? The sign was found in a shed near Biggar in Scotland. Likely picked up when it closed, found with a number of dobby loom control cards, pirins and bits and bobs .

I spun the color wheel and landed on Old Rose from @knollyarns Pink is not naturally a go-to for me, but it sure makes this networked twill pop as the lifts shift across repeats. I’m loving that none of the 10 repeats of the pattern are the same. Next up, hyacinth followed by spearmint @pickoneweave

While at the studio, giving the color wheel a good hard spin…

And meanwhile back at home… I feel like I finally have the weaving set up right using pieces found in the street, second hand and up-cycled or repaired over the last decade or two. Painting by my amazingly talented aunt Gail Hoar

Scarf one is now a wrap - sampling colors and tie-ups for the remaining 12 meters. I am always surprised at how colors change once woven. This networked broken twill creates four different shades of the goldcrest colorway. I had my eyes on the Pacific color also from @knollyarns , but the lack of contrast loses too much of the pattern (even if that blue really glows). Hoping the Opal colorway reommended by @pickoneweave will be a win next week. For the new tie-ups I’ve gathered inspiration from the diaper twill section from the #Keepmewarmonenight encyclopedia of Eastern Canadian coverlets. Fun fact, diapers are named for the fabric and not the other way around.

Back in the @pickoneweave studio and 2026 is off to a great start. Very pleased with how this networked twill based on #jannaweaves threading is coming along. Took a bit of sampling, but I am chuffed with how the Goldcrest colorway from @knollyarns is pairing with the indigo and carbon blue warp. Already have my eye out for the next weft color as there is 14 metres of warp to play with. Any suggestions?

Fighting off a cold so stayed in to get the project here back up and running: playing with a block overshot pattern using a color-shifting single ply purchased from @balticknitsscotland (@pacesvilnasfabrika Dundaga Latvian Singles) and a merino tabby layer from @knollyarns Feeling better - and hopefully will get this done in 2026! Still amazed that this #dryadloom being used as a decoration at @bogmyrtleskye still does the trick. Many thanks to @pickoneweave for helping me get it going!
