Little hands creating, exploring, and imagining. 🌼🌱 Our 2-year-olds engaged in sensory play as they used dirt, planters, and flowers to pretend plant and garden together. Through hands-on exploration, they are building creativity, language, fine motor skills, and imaginative thinking while learning through play. 💚 Moments like these help nurture curiosity, confidence, and joyful learning. #TheITAVWay #Chicago #EarlyChildhoodEducation #Gardening #STEM

After studying Chicago’s Five Year Blueprint on Homelessness, our scholars came to City Hall with questions. Questions about accountability. Questions about funding. Questions about timelines. Questions about what justice truly looks like for families experiencing homelessness. Today they spoke up, listened deeply, and advocated for a city where everyone has access to safe and affordable housing. This is social justice education in action. #AffordableHousing #EndHomelessness #StudentLeaders #SocialJusticeEducation #TheITAVWay

Today our 8th grade scholars visited Chicago City Hall as part of their Grassroots Campaign focused on ending homelessness and expanding affordable housing across Chicago. Hosted by Deputy Mayor of Education and Youth Services Khari Humphries and Alderman Lamont Robinson, students attended today’s Budget Committee Hearing after studying the City of Chicago’s Five Year Blueprint on Homelessness. Our scholars came prepared with real questions about funding, accountability, and timelines for implementation. They also shared their desire to partner in these efforts long term. Throughout the day, students also had the opportunity to meet DPD Commissioner Ciere Boatright and the Mayor’s Office policy analyst on homelessness. Many of our students also had the opportunity to see their own alderpeople in action, including 24th Ward Alderwoman Monique Scott, who encouraged and cheered them on throughout the visit. This is what student voice, civic engagement, and social justice education look like in action. Tomorrow belongs to the children who are prepared today. ✊🏾🏙️ #Chicago #Education #CivicEngagement #EndHomelessness #TheITAVWay

Big movement for our little learners 💚✨ Our toddlers used their physical development skills while exploring the playground through climbing, running, balancing, and sliding. As they played, they strengthened their large-muscle development, practiced coordination and balance, and learned how to safely engage with peers during outdoor exploration. Every jump, step, climb, and smile is helping build confidence, independence, and healthy development. ☀️ Learning happens everywhere at ITAV, including the playground. #Chicago #EarlyChildhoodEducation #Toddlers #TheITAVWay

📣 Deadline Approaching for the City of Chicago’s Storefront Activation Program! We’re working to transform vacant and underutilized storefronts on Cottage Grove Ave into community-serving spaces that reflect the culture, creativity, and entrepreneurship of our neighborhoods. With opportunities of up to $300,000 per application and a fast-approaching deadline, this is a catalytic moment for local businesses, property owners, and visionaries to step forward. Huge thanks to the Chicago Mayor's Office (@chicagosmayor ) and the City of Chicago Department of Planning & Development (@chicagodpd ) for their leadership and commitment to equitable neighborhood investment across Chicago. And congratulations to our fellow delegates! Your dedication to activating corridors across the city is inspiring. Together, we’re building more than storefronts; we’re building momentum, opportunity, and community wealth. 📣 Bring your idea to life, now is the time! Today, ITAV Family of Schools was proud to serve as a supporting partner for State Senator Lakesia Collins’ 6th Annual Mother’s Day Celebration at Douglass Park. 🌸 We were honored to sponsor the petting zoo, creating a joyful space where children and families could laugh, learn, connect, and simply enjoy being together. From feeding ducks and meeting goats to petting turtles and rabbits, the joy on our children’s faces said it all. 🐐🦆🐢 Our team also had the opportunity to connect with families, share information about ITAV, and continue building relationships rooted in education, wellness, and community empowerment. We are grateful to Senator Collins and all of the community partners who helped make this beautiful day possible. At ITAV, we believe schools should be deeply connected to the communities they serve and that tomorrow belongs to the children who are prepared today. #CommunityPartnership #FamilyEngagement #MothersDay #TheITAVWay #LakesiaCares

Tiny feet, big responsibility. ♻️💚 Our preschoolers recently completed a study on recycling and caring for the Earth, and today they proudly took their recycling to the bin all by themselves. 🌎✨ Through hands-on learning, they’re discovering that even small actions can help make a big difference. The little things become big habits. #Chicago #EarlyChildhoodEducation #HeadStart #Recycle #TheITAVWay

What happens when students learn about history, policy, and justice in the classroom… and then hear those same issues discussed by the Mayor of Chicago? Connection. Understanding. Possibility. During their visit to City Hall, our scholars had the opportunity to hear Mayor Brandon Johnson speak about redlining, housing investment, and the future of Chicago’s South and West sides, topics they have been studying through our Grassroots Campaign curriculum. For our students, this was more than a field trip. It was a chance to see that the issues they study are real, that their voices matter, and that they belong in conversations about the future of their city. At ITAV Leadership Academy, we want our children to understand not only how systems work, but also how they can help shape them. This is what it means to prepare students for leadership. Grateful to Mayor Brandon Johnson for taking time to pour into our scholars and encourage them to see themselves as part of Chicago’s future. Freedom to Thrive 💛 #Chicago #Education #CivicEngagement #LeadershipDevelopment #TheITAVWay
