The discovery of Karyn Lyons portraits of girlhood showcased in her solo show Night for Day, currently at Stems Paris was a welcome one and the source of much new inspiration.

“I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED THE CIRCULARITY OF THE MOON” 🌖🌔🌑 miniature film of the extraordinary British sculptor Emily Young at her home, a former monastery in the Tuscan hills for Issue 12 of @arabbitsfoot
Back in June, I was sent on a dream assignment to Covento di Santa Croce, a former monastery in the hills of Tuscany, to photograph Britain’s greatest stone sculptor Emily Young for the latest issue of @arabbitsfoot , accompanying a beautiful interview written by @kittygrady .
🐚🖤I go down to the edge of the sea.
How everything shines in the morning light!
The cusp of the whelk,
the broken cupboard of the clam,
the opened, blue mussels,
moon snails, pale pink and barnacle scarred—
and nothing at all whole or shut, but tattered, split,
dropped by the gulls onto the gray rocks and all the moisture gone.
It’s like a schoolhouse
of little words,
thousands of words.
First you figure out what each one means by itself,
the jingle, the periwinkle, the scallop full of moonlight.
Then you begin, slowly, to read the whole story.
Breakage - Mary Oliver
From Mary Oliver ⚓️ - I go down to the shore in the morning
and depending on the hour the waves
are rolling in or moving out,
and I say, oh, I am miserable,
what shall—
what should I do? And the sea says
in its lovely voice:
Excuse me, I have work to do.
