Such a wonderful time reading poetry (and debuting the mini-film behind me!) during the BYP showcase. Even better to collaborate on @bcsp.23 and discuss poetic and other ways to challenge arts institutions like the Barbican 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸 📸 @bettylaurazq
Uncle in the first clip pierced my ears when I was a baby, 24 years ago. He pierced my thirds maybe 10 years ago. He uses a bit of silver wire, sharpened at the ends to puncture the skin, and then bends it around your ear to make a hoop with a knot. He says it takes 3 years to learn his craft: welding and repairing jewellery. His son has been learning for 6 months now. #lucknow
I’m off work and at my grandma’s with little to do.🪻I wrote this poem long ago so my feelings about it have shifted in ways. I also missed a sentence or two but does that count as real-time poetry editing…
Issue 19 lands next week and here’s another three of the poets featured: Ishita Uppadhayay (@ishitaupp ), Cherry Smyth (@cherrysmythpoet ) and Daniel Grimston (@daniel.grimston ).
Their poems - “plinths”, “Separation Anxiety”, and “manosphere” look at love, relationships and toxic masculinity.
You can pre-order Issue 19 now via fourteenpoems.com. Subscribers will receive their copies from next week and it’ll be in shops shortly after.
We can’t wait for you to read these fourteen poems!
Poetry fights art; fellow Leyton Orient fan and bold young poet @ishitaupp read surrounded by post-post-post modern art and won. I whistled Tijuana Taxi.

Happy World Poetry Day. This is my poem ‘Manifesto’ and I made this bc I live next to Wanstead Flats (lucky me) and Zack is a great videographer. I read this poem two weeks ago at an IWD event at the Barbican, but actually wrote it around four years ago. 🗡️🗡️
It’s so rough to be in a body. This poem feels relevant to me every day since I wrote it. I am the blade point. My body is the sheath. ⚔️
