The Built Environment Collecting BG elements for my new film about a grumpy magpie. I’m exploring aging, friendship, digital identity, and urban density with handmade materials like paper, sticks, and clay. For the first time, I’m using dialogue and famous music too! Excited to share more process as I go. #magpiphone #birdslamentbymoondog

A rainy Spring day for our third “Living Frames: Animation for Ecology + Sustainability” workshop along the Humber River. 🌧️ 🌱 The budding shades of green came through as we explored and reflected on our material based animation practices through our relationship to different local flora and fauna. Thanks to SweetGrassRoots Collective for joining us! As our project continues to take shape @isaaaacking and I are excited to continue this @ocadugcca research with our wonderful student team: @ravayy @samuelwasserman @mehrakt @petersamanek @ocaduniversity @ocadu_experimental_animation #ecologicalanimation #sustainableanimation #humberriver #skunklettuce #springtime

It was a cold and beautiful February day for our second “Living Frames: Animation for Ecology and Sustainability” workshop at the @evergreen_brick_works 🧱❄️ Too chilly for #outdooranimation , but plenty of exploration and discussion about the industrial history and renaturalization of this Don river valley site, guided by the insightful curator of public art, Charlene K. Lau @ceekaylau @cristalclear_ and I are excited to continue this @ocadugcca research with our amazing student team: @ravayy @samuelwasserman @mehrakt @petersamanek ! @ocaduniversity @ocadu_experimental_animation #ecologicalanimation #sustainableanimation #evergreenbrickworks #staghornsumac

“Inbetweening Beings” is my animation/film/projection/MFA thesis project overlapping animated life. A new(ish) iteration will be exhibited at assemblage, a window gallery at 2015 Dundas st. W, Toronto, Feb 12- Mar 11, between 4-11 pm daily (or whenever the blinds get opened!) 🎞️🌿🌎🐛 Join me on Thursday Feb 12th at 7 pm for the sidewalk opening, followed by some drinks at Bandit Brewery. @akimboart link in bio ⬆️ #ecologicalanimation #inbetweeningbeings #outdooranimation #lenticularpainting #inchworm

“Canis”, 2026. I made this #lenticular painting for an upcoming window gallery show, to be seen in two ways by people passing by. It’ll be part of an installation of “Inbetweening Beings”, my 2022 MFA idea about using animation’s increments to overlap species. More news to come! #lenticularart #canis #coyotes #dogs

Our first “Living Frames: Animation for Ecology & Sustainability” workshop happened in late 2025, with an energetic group of students and faculty. We explored Grange Park and experimented with materials in the @ocadu_experimental_animation stop-motion studio. I’m excited to continue this research with @cristalclear_ and the group in 2026! @ocadugcca @ocaduniversity #ecologicalanimation #outdooranimation #sustainableanimation

“Humans Build The Biggest Nests” has screened at 15 festivals and managed to pick up a couple awards too! 🕷️🎞️🏆 Thanks so much @ecocine.eco and @bceffestival for this recognition, and all the other film festivals that have supported the film on this journey @animateka_festival @ottawa.animationfestival @curtocircuito_festival @animaclleida @zlinfilmfestival @tres_court @planetinfocus It all started with a giant ecological #flipbook connecting humans to other species. It has been my absolute pleasure to see people (especially kids) interact with this project. After the festival run (or walk?) I’ll be posting the film online for free in early 2026. 🙏🏻 Bram Gielen for the masterful music, and the @ontarioartscouncil for funding the film. #humansbuildthebiggestnests #ecology #ecologicalanimation #environmentalanimation #flipbookanimation #hbtbn #2danimation #experimentalanimation

SOUND ON 🔊 Maple Tar Spot is a common fungal disease that blemishes leaves, but doesn’t kill trees. Trees help us breathe. Extracting more fossil fuels makes it harder for everyone to breathe. No new pipelines! Oil and gas belong underground. Everything is running! For me, running isn’t everything (I’m a casual jogger) but I loved making this collage-illustration with 5 built-in jokes for @irunnation magazine!!!!!👃🐟🚘🌊❄️ Here is a process video of how I made it, starting with a visit to the salmon run at the Humber river. After a sketch and shoe photography came hours of photoshop fiddling. Music is “Sun” by Caribou, an energizing song that gets me running. Happy fall, keep moving, and enjoy the sun 🍂🏃‍♂️☀️⏳ Huge thanks to @irunningben for making this happen. Congrats on this gorgeous magazine! #everythingisrunning #irun #runningidioms #collageillustration #illustrationprocess #isyourrefridgeratorrunning

Over the summer I made this 5-minute science video about GRACEFUL, a women-led research project examining how earth’s liquid core affects gravity and magnetism. 🌏🧲🧭👩‍🔬 It was wonderful working with writer Katia Pinheiro, character designer @rajieeee , musician Adam Hedman-Murray, and the voice talents of Sharifa, Kenny, and Jasper! Watch on my website isaacking.net/science-videos Graceful Project info at graceful.oma.be Pictured are some personal highlights: animating Henry’s spit-take, adapting the designs of Awuradwoa Afful @rajieeee into paper cutouts, animating the voice of my pseudo-surly son😂 #earthscience #thegracefulproject #scienceanimation #paperanimation #earthscore #womenscience #gravitychangesovertime

The Knothead Award is given to an Evan’s Lake camp staff member who did something foolish (not on purpose, and not causing injury) 🪢🙊 I drew it 30+ years ago at my old summer camp and had the honour of remaking it in 2025! Thanks @evanslake for giving generations of kids a great summer experience in the woods of Squamish, BC! 🌲🏔️🛶 #evanslakesummercamp #knothead #treecookie
