The Grenadier Guards have now conducted our first parade on Horse Guards Parade as preparations continue for this year’s Trooping the Colour. Joined by the Massed Bands, the atmosphere on the square brought a real sense of occasion and gave a glimpse of what’s to come in the heart of London.
Every rehearsal sharpens the standard, builds the confidence, and brings us one step closer to parade day.

Troop Training Continues.
The first phase begins as the Commanding Officer, the Adjutant, and the Senior Major take their places on the square on horseback, setting the conditions for the training to follow.
From this point, each movement is built and refined in preparation for Trooping the Colour, The King’s Birthday Parade.

Last week the Irish Guards rugby team were hosted fantastically by Regent House Grammar School. The fixture was played against the Balckthorns in memory of Lt Col Blair Mayne DSO, at his old school and to raise money for the Royal British Legion.
Despite the variable weather, spectators were treated to a hard fought contest, with the Micks snatching the game at the death. The final score 22-19.

Congratulations to Lt Campbell and Flory on successfully completing the Marathon des Sables last weekend.
Covering 270km over six stages through the Sahara Desert, this year’s race was the longest edition in the event’s history. Both Micks finished in the top 25% of all competitors. A remarkable achievement and a true test of endurance.
They are raising funds for the Irish Guards Charity, which supports both serving personnel and veterans of the Regiment.

CSgt Coldicott has recently completed the Brighton Trail marathon in support of Birmingham Hospice, who provided outstanding care to his mother before her passing last Christmas. A deeply personal cause that will see him raise more funds for the charity at the Birmingham Half Marathon on 3 May 26.
