‘What would you do if you had no fear?’ I asked myself 5 years ago as a disillusioned 20-year-old on the verge of making a leap and reclaiming her zest for life.
I knew my answer, my mother knew, we had always known. But for the first time ever, I gave myself not only the time and space, but also the grace and respect to honor the inner voice that I had desperately denied yet fantasized about most of my life.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned on this journey thus far, it’s that you are possible, your wildest dreams are possible, but you gotta absolutely, unapologetically, and audaciously step into yourself and own it.
If you are fortunate to have discovered your gifts for the world, give them away generously. If you are still in search of an omen, keep going at it with faith and hope. Lead with your heart, work hard, and stay patient.
Don’t give up on your dreams. It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life honey-sweet.

At the end of every quarter the actors and our singing teacher KB @kyleadamblairpiano put together a low-key, informal singing cabaret where we celebrate our talents and have a great time with the faculty and our peers. It’s the best way to close out every quarter.
I did something cheeky this week, but first let me share this rowdy song I did last December when I sang solo in front of people for the second time in my life, absolutely owning it and walking away with pure bliss!

the sun went behind the clouds the past six months and some days seemed insurmountable, but how else do we learn to tread through the storm with grace and kindness for ourselves and lean on the most important people in our lives?
finished second year of grad school. gave my best self, created some stuff (as a writer??), witnessed the growth of my BA students in intro to acting and public speaking classes, looked at my fears in the eye, and slayed some dragons

Here I am one year ago singing Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchell. My very first time in front of people, extremely terrifying but overwhelmingly joyous.
Growing up with the mentality that I should only pursue things I’m good at and not waste time doing things I’m not, I made many seemingly adventurous and bold choices because I was fairly confident that the outcome would be in my favor. It’s taken me my entire 20s so far to radically challenge that mindset by throwing myself into the unknown time after time and reclaim my joy for learning.
I turn 28 in a week. It feels surreal since I’ve been a student my whole life and I can’t wait to spread my wings further and take flight very soon. I’m scared a lot of the time but I’m willing to try all the time.
So grateful for family, friends, mentors, artists, stories, flowers, trees, theatre, films, art, adventures and for (almost) 28 years of life.
