Dragged a sofa into a field for this one - worth it! 🛋️🌿
Directed + creative concept by yours truly for the fantastic @absntmindmusic Absnt Mind and their new single ‘Stitch’. Had some real fun shooting during Storm Amy’s 70mph wind with @nicocastillop and who knew that carrying a sofa into the middle of a park gets you some weird looks? UTOPIA Reader
Now that my final project at @lcclondon is done (!!), I finally had time to revisit one of my first pieces from the course—my UTOPIA Reader. Originally based on the intro to Cruising Utopia: The Then and There of Queer Futurity by José Esteban Muñoz (2009), the project explores his idea that queerness is not yet here—it’s a futurity. Muñoz critiques “the here and now” as limiting, and instead positions utopia not as fantasy, but as a tool we must use, through art, performance, and culture, to imagine and enact queer futures. To reflect this visually, I focused on the sea-its fluidity and boundlessness echoed the essence of Muñoz’s argument for me. Alongside the main publication, I also made a hand-collaged zine featuring a poem I wrote about the sea and its wider meanings (you can spot that in an earlier post). While the original version did its job (still somewhere on my feed!), I wanted to give the book a stronger, more finished feeling. So, with some spare time and access to the LCC workshops, I re-bound it by hand. All the photos are mine, and I designed the entire thing from concept to creation. #queerfutures #pridemonth #bookdesign #artasactivism #lccgrad

JUNO: Final Major Project Freaks to the Front Music Video The music video for Juno’s campaign captures punk’s raw energy while challenging traditional ways of representing female performers. Filmed at Southbank Skatepark, Waterloo Station and Leake Street, the video was created through close collaboration with Luci Allende (as Juno), @nicocastillop (Camera Operator) and @lucykatesimone (Camera Operator Assistant). Thank you again guys for all your hard work! A key aim was to apply the female gaze, ensuring Juno had control over her own image and presence on screen. This approach pushed back against typical objectifying views of women in older music videos, giving Juno agency in how she was portrayed. Visually, the video embraced a gonzo aesthetic—handheld shots, fisheye lenses, and spontaneous, unpolished moments. This DIY style fits the rebellious nature of punk, breaking down barriers between viewer and performer and bringing the audience directly into Juno’s world. The video features the track “Freaks to the Front” by @amylandthesniffers , the band whose high-energy performances and political ethos deeply inspired this project. JUNO: Final Major Project Spill the Beans Zine ‘Spill the Beans’ is a punk zine rooted in community, created from interviews, personal research, and firsthand punk experiences. I designed each spread using collage, found images, and cut-and-paste typography to reflect the raw, authentic style of classic punk zines. Rough-edged layouts and reinforce the DIY aesthetic. This process gave me an appreciation for punk’s grassroots communication and how it can amplify voices that challenge the mainstream. Printed using a risograph printer, and each copy compiled and stapled by hand by myself. Each page is a celebration of community, punk culture and rebellion. To give it a read, check out the Juno website in my bio. Many thanks to @gensdegenerates @mypunkrocklondonlife.3 For your insightful thoughts on punk today and its impacts from history! JUNO: Final Major Project Mixtape & Physical Media The mixtape I created celebrates the voices of female and non-binary punk and alternative artists, curated to challenge the status quo. I produced physical LPs, CDs, and cassette tapes, each designed using collage techniques, scanned denim textures, and found imagery to create an authentic DIY feel. I experimented with layering, using ripped paper, hand-drawn text, and vibrant colour palettes to echo punk’s anti-commercial attitude. Burning the mix onto CDs and assembling the tapes by hand deepened my understanding of tactile media production. Post 4/6 #punk #creativedirector #cd #lp #cassette #mixtape #patches #ual #reliefprint

JUNO: Final Major Project Badges & Patches Handmade badges and patches created using Lino-relief printing, a process chosen for its textured, imperfect finish that resonates with punk’s anti-commercial ethos. I designed, carved, and hand-printed each piece before digitally adjusting colours for vibrancy. Each badge was pressed by hand, capturing the spirit of DIY activism. The patches, too, carry a message—each one a small but powerful statement worn on jackets and bags. Together, they invite dialogue and solidarity within punk’s community, echoing the genre’s rebellious roots. Take a look at my recent reels to watch the process! JUNO (Final Major Project): Screenprinted Garments. These t-shirts were created using screenprinting - a process I experimented with to bring Juno’s visual identity to life. After thrifting a range of clothes, I designed the prints by hand before exposing them onto screens. I chose red and black inks for their impact, then printed each shirt in the LCC workshop, ensuring the punk aesthetic was authentic. The logo is a refined version of earlier editions, which you can also see on a previous post. Each print was printed by me, staying true to the DIY roots of punk fashion. As part of my future concept development, I wanted to consider how to make merch garments more sustainably, and came up with the live-press idea. This would involve fans bringing old clothes, and getting the artist’s designs printed onto them live at the gig. This would both reduce costs, and textile waste, which is a huge contributor to the negative impacts we have on the environment. It would also make the merchandise more affordable for fans, and given the current cost of living crisis we face both in the UK and around the world, this was something I really wanted to consider. FMP: JUNO Who is Juno? What is my Final Major Project? Juno is a fictional punk musician, whose persona was crafted carefully by me. She was physically embodied by Luciana Allende, a fellow Art Direction student here at UAL. The self-set brief for my Final Major Project for @lccartdirection was to create a full 360° creative campaign for a fictional punk artist, tackling and addressing social issues by applying a wide range of theorists (including Audre Lorde (dismantling oppressive structures), Laura Mulvey (disrupting the male gaze and scopophobia) & Dick Hebdige (Commodification of Subculture). I applied these theorists and their ideas to my practice and the visual media I produced in the project (such as avoiding objectifying angles during the music video by only shooting up towards Juno, never from above, giving her the position of power). What did I do? To produce this campaign, I harnessed a wide range of practical skills and techniques, such as screen printing, relief printing, collaging, risograph printing, interviewing, article writing, burning CDs, graphic designing to specific guidelines, directing & producing a location video shoot, editing, website building and badge making. I also collaborated and creatively directed a number of talented creatives, without whom I couldn’t have made it happen, including: @nicocastillop @lucykatesimone @alexwilcox.design & Luci Allende. (Many, many thanks!!) This project was a huge undertaking, but one that I thoroughly enjoyed. I have learnt how to work to a brief and tight schedule, to manage and listen to collaborators, and to also make time for experimentation. Follow along to see the other outcomes of the project!
